China calls for peace talks, cease-fire between Russia and Ukraine

On the eve of the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, China has called for a cease-fire between the two sides and for peace talks to commence as part of a 12-point plan to end the war.

China’s Foreign Ministry revealed the plan on Friday, Beijing time, and also called for the end of Western sanctions on Russia, measures to ensure nuclear facilities, humanitarian corridors for civilians to flee the conflict and a process to ensure the continuation of grain exports.

“All parties should support Russia and Ukraine in working in the same direction and resuming direct dialogue as quickly as possible,” the paper released on China’s Foreign Ministry’s website stated.

In the proposal, China indicated its opposition to the use of nuclear weapons in the conflict, as well as the threat of deploying them.

“Nuclear weapons must not be used and nuclear wars must not be fought. The threat or use of nuclear weapons should be opposed,” the paper said.

On Friday, the Chinese government marked the one year anniversary of Russia's invasion by calling for an end to war in Ukraine, releasing a 12-point "peace plan." While it encourages dialogue over endless fighting, the plan has been met with scepticism by those in the west over aspects that appear favorable to Russia and Chinese interests.

At the same time, President Biden announced that the United States would be enforcing a series of new sanctions on Russian companies tied to the country's defense and financial sectors. Biden's treasury secretary Janet Yellen on Thursday announced another $10 billion in economic assistance for Ukraine. The amount of US aid, in cash, weapons, and assistance is now upwards of $200 billion.

"Providing economic assistance has made Ukraine's resistance possible by supporting the home front, funding critical public services, and helping keep the government running. In the coming months, we expect to provide around $10 billion in additional economic support for Ukraine," said Yellen.

According to the Daily Mail, China's 12-point plan calls for "an end to Western sanctions, negotiations which would likely see Ukraine ceding territory, a NATO pull-back from its eastern borders and reconstruction efforts that would probably benefit Chinese contractors."

This was all cloaked, however, in a veil of supposed good will and a desire to see the conflict end for the interest of all involved.

"Conflict and war benefit no one," the CCP wrote. "All parties must stay rational and exercise restraint, avoid fanning the flames and aggravating tensions, and prevent the crisis from deteriorating further or even spiraling out of control."

"All parties should support Russia and Ukraine in working in the same direction and resuming direct dialogue as quickly as possible, so as to gradually deescalate the situation and ultimately reach a comprehensive ceasefire."

"The security of a country should not be pursued at the expense of others," the CCP continued. "The security of a region should not be achieved by strengthening or expanding military blocs."

If NATO poured all their resources into a proxy war with Russia this war would already be over. Russia has something around a few percentage points of the GDP of all NATO countries combined. Russia could completely consume itself in this war and it will have little effect on the rest of the world economically. And the bottom line is this is a war of Russia's choosing. They can end it anytime they want by just leaving Ukraine.

The stupidity of these people is astounding.

The combination of natural resources, military and economic power, and sheer population would make the Russia-Chinese alliance the most powerful force in the world.

The United States would soon be dethroned - we would be taking orders.

As Trump put it, there’s no reason to make Russia our enemy, and there are many reasons not to.

It was a sound case, but official Washington ignored it.

Their response, shouted in unison: "Shut up, Putin stooge!", and then they set about trying to provoke a war with Russia.

Now they have succeeded.

2020 - North Macedonia joins NATO.

2023 - Someone posts words here about Russia's relations with China that came from Joe Biden 26 years ago as if they had any relevance at all to Russia invading Ukraine for their oil, gas, manufacturing, resources, and ports.
