David Oreck, vacuum salesman whose bowling-ball-sucking commercials made his vacuums a household name, dies at 99.

David made a good vacuum cleaner.  I bought one 25 years or so ago and it worked great.  Still does whenever i want to do a quick cleanup of something without having to drag out the central vac.

I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

As I like to tell people, Lynyrd Skynyrd isn't music, it's culture. My Southern relatives appreciated them in a way that Northerners couldn't understand. Freebird was almost the unofficial state song for the state of Alabama for them back then.

RIP Mr. Rossington and someone turn out the lights when they exit. It was one heck of a run.

The Republic is lost.

Yes, that’s her name. She’s got an incredible singing voice. Is one of the BGV for Skynyrd.

Robert Blake dead: 'In Cold Blood,' 'Baretta' star was 89
 By Brooke Kato
March 9, 2023 7:55pm

Robert Blake, a controversial actor best known for his roles in the television series “Baretta” and the film “In Cold Blood,” is dead at 89.

His niece, Noreen Austin, announced that he died from heart disease in Los Angeles, Deadline reported.

The Post has reached out to Blake’s representatives and family for comment.

Born Michael Gubitosi in 1933, his tenured Hollywood career spanned six decades – from his childhood appearance “Our Gang” (1939) to his most notable role in the 1967 adaptation of Truman Capote’s book “In Cold Blood.”

He also starred in “Treasure of the Sierra Madre” (1948), “Electra Glide in Blue” (1973) and “Lost Highway” (1997), his final film.

Blake scored a Primetime Emmy Award in 1975 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for “Baretta,” in which he played the titular character, Det. Tony Baretta, for four seasons.

He also received three other Emmy nominations.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Jerry Samuels dies at 85.

Samuels had a handful of top-40 hits in the early 1960s as a songwriter, including "As If I Didn't Know" for Adam Wade, and "The Shelter of Your Arms" for Sammy Davis Jr.

But he is perhaps most (in)famous for his 1966 record "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" which he released under the alias Napoleon XIV.
