This Election Was an Unmitigated Disaster, and It's Time to Air Some Grievances
By Bonchie | 5:57 AM on November 12, 2022

We now have a pretty clear picture of how the 2022 election went. Far from the overwhelming predictions of a red wave (by myself included, even if my predictions were criticized pre-election as being too understated), the end result is an unmitigated disaster for the Republican Party and the country.

Democrats have been handed a fresh mandate, holding the Senate and perhaps only losing the House by a vote or two. With those margins, it’ll be easy to peel off a few blue-state Republicans to pass objectionable bills. In short, not only has nothing changed but the left has been energized by a political outcome that makes them more likely to retain and retake power in 2024.

To be frank, I’m not here for the excuses, nor those insisting we double down on losing because of petty, pathetic tribal feuds within the party. So yeah, I’m about to air some grievances and get brutally honest. Buckle up and understand that my anger is about wanting to win, not pushing any specific politician or direction. My family matters more than protecting party leaders.

With that said, let’s talk about Mitch McConnell first. That’d be the same Mitch McConnell who decided to pass gun control, give Joe Biden his infrastructure bill, break his promise on the debt ceiling, and proclaim Ukraine the top issue for Americans while shoveling tens of billions in unaccountable money overseas.

If McConnell wanted to validate the attacks on him as leading a nefarious “establishment,” what would he have done differently? It is time for new leadership, and that includes replacing the 80-year-old, deeply disliked GOP Senate leader whose biggest brag was getting through conservative Supreme Court justices with a Republican Senate. My dog could have gotten that done, and he’s old and has arthritis, which is a good description of McConnell.

To borrow a phrase I heard somewhere, "At this point what difference does it make?"

"Liberty once lost is lost forever. When the People once surrender their share in the Legislature, and their Right of defending the Limitations upon the government, and of resisting every Encroachment upon them, they can never regain it."

John Adams,1775,
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

There are about a half  dozen in the GOP that have blown it that I'd like to point the finger at.

Middle one mostly........

Been talking about Trump's boy McConnell for over eight years now.  Been bringing up again and again and again and again the FACT that Mitch McConnell would have been primaried in 2014 had it not been for Donald Trump.

Mitch McConnell is not our friend.  And neither is anyone who supports him.  He is in it for himself.  And he will watch the entire country go down the drain in the process.

To the #AlwaysTrumpers here:  To hell with you all!  Trump has done some good things.  But he has done some bad things as well.  Backing Mitch was one of them.  So was giving us Ronna McDaniel and then making it impossible to get rid of her.  And until you can introduce this 'truth' with your capacity to reason, there is no way we can come together to rid ourselves of the true enemy that is destroying our way of life.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

Didn't Trump also back Paul Ryan?

That was an unmitigated disaster too.

McConnell has always been a near complete disaster.
Other than getting Trump's judicial appointments through,
he's been a loyal servant of The Swamp,
and the Chinese billionaire who is the father of his wife, Elaine Chao.

The President does not appoint the Republican National Committee chair,
who currently is Ronna Romney McDaniel,
the sister of another world class backstabber, Mitt Romney.

The RNC chair is elected by the Republican National Committee,
whose members are listed at   https://gop.com/about-our-party/rnc-members/

Those people are elected by each state's Republican Committee members,
who themselves are elected by the voters in that state's Republican primary.

To take control of the Party, we the people need to
get our people elected to those state party offices,
who will then elect good people to the national committee,
who will then elect a good RNC chair.

These are "the people behind the curtain" who control the Party,
whom the Party and the "mainstream" media
tell us to "pay no attention to" -
mostly by not mentioning them at all.

If all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion,
mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.

Oh look, another article pointing fingers at everything except the real problem: voting systems which allow Democrats to steal any election they want to steal.

Until the people start talking about the real problem, election theft, and ways to stop it, then all the finger-pointing in the world amounts to rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic while the water swirls around your necks.
Let it burn.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
It wasn't an unmitigated disaster.

Wrap your heads around the fact that this went as planned.

That the same jurisdictions which stole 2020 are just at it again.

That the very people who should have changed those mechanisms to end fraud did not do so.

Nor will they complain now, except to divert as much blame as possible to the people they see as a political threat.

I will say that Donald Trump is very stingy when it comes to financially backing his candidates.  He will support them with rallies, tweets and pubic praise, but he does not spend much of his campaign war chest.  Mastriano had absolutely no money for his campaign.  Shapiro ran millions of dollars of unanswered attack ads, calling Mastriano a Q-Anon white supremacist, and there was really nothing Mastriano could do. I heard Oz spent $20 million of his own money in his failed bid.  That must smart quite a lot.

The GOP needs to figure out how to unify the MAGA crowd with the traditional conservatives, and develop a pro-border, pro-America, anti-socialist agenda that can satisfy everyone.  If Trump is smart, he will step aside and back DeSantis for 2024. Trump is clearly a bigger liability than a help these days. He can go out as an elder statesman who laid the groundwork for a movement that is bigger than he is.

I doubt he will do this, but I can dream, can't I?

What we see is that to control the politics of the country you need only control a few jurisdictions: Philadelphia, Fulton County, Maricopa County and Clark County. That is it.  Those four places can determine the trajectory of the country right now.  All four are notoriously corrupt.  They intentionally delay counting so that they can determine how many votes are needed, and then they magically deliver just enough votes to carry statewide elections in their respective states.

These four jurisdictions kept Oz, Walker and Laxalt out of the senate, and Lake out of her governorship.  Change those four outcomes and we would have regarded this election as a victory.

  • Dems-greatest existential threat to USA republic!
Anyone with vision saw with their own eyes the overt, blatant cheating in 2020 to elect Biden.  The posters going up at the huge counting center in the Philly area of Pennsylvania should have resulted in every vote counted in that center being rendered null and void.  We have poll watchers for a reason.  They are not there standing around observing because they like to stand all day long.  They have a real purpose.

Video of someone running the same batch of ballots through a counting machine in Fulton County Georgia is real, not made by some conspiracy goon.

Watching in the AM hours and witnessing first hand counts for Trump going down not up while at the same time Biden's counts went up, and seeing this several times was not my eyes playing tricks on me.

OUR ELECTIONS ARE CORRUPTED.  THEY ARE BEING FIXED.  OUR REPUBLIC IS DEAD.  WE ARE EXACTLY, PRECISELY, NO DIFFERENT RIGHT NOW THAN RUSSIA WITH THEIR FIXED ELECTIONS, WHERE THE PEOPLE ARE TOLD THEY HAVE FREE ELECTIONS.  BTW, make sure you get your booster shot!!!

I made probably 10-15 calls to GOP officials to make sure that during the 2020 GA senatorial runoffs, that they post people at the polls to document out of state liscences.

They just laughed, and said their elections were secure.   9999hair out0000

I agree with you that those jurisdictions are center stage for THIS election @massadvj but they are certainly NOT the only ones where election chicanery occurs on a grand scale. FAR from it!

It is a good place to start.  Hopefully, now that Nevada will have a GOP governor, he can work on the Clark County disaster.

The retort to some of that will be that McConnell didn’t support Blake Masters. That’s true, and it’s also pointless whining. Masters pledged to oppose McConnell. Was the expectation really that McConnell would then turn around and fund his campaign? Does Donald Trump fund the campaigns of people who pledge to not support him? I’m all for bucking the establishment, but when a candidate does so, there better be a plan in place to subvert said establishment. Instead, the heads of the MAGA movement and its cash-flush financial arms left Masters out to dry. That is what’s inexcusable, not McConnell doing what he was obviously going to do.
