Saw him in '83 and '85, and as I shared on the Classic Rock thread, I went to a lot of concerts in the day.  No doubt  the 1983 one was the absolute worst one concert that  I've  ever went to.  When I left that night, I felt violated, (1) monetarily for the ticket price (2) ripped off having to listen to an hour and a half of rockabilly shit. I actually started booing half way thoguh the lazy second set.  He played zilch from anything except that piss poor album he supporting with that tour.  He basically gave the middle finger to his fans that night.

And preachy?  His anti-war album in the early '90's was a professional embarassment.  NY has made a life of overestimating thinking people adore him.

Dylan, Young, and Petty all had poor voices.  Still it didn't hurt that they were all masterful songwriters, who put together fantastic supporting casts.   They  were/are all legends in music.
