You ever work for the State Department as an exxpatriate in a war zone @DCPatriot ?? You don't move your bowels w/o direction and instruction ---- and that's for an individual's safety and part of the staff's training. You certainly do not login to Expedia and reserve a car service to the airport and business class tickets on Air Arabia.

And you don't panic when the POTUS assures you all is well ---- just weeks before he turns over airport security of the one remaining runway in Kabul to the enemy you've been fighting for 20 years ---- when it's too late to sneeze, nevermind travel freely.

It may help you understand the actual circumstances on the ground if you fight the urge to see the stranded Americans through the prism of a wine glass in an Italian Ristorante outside Baltimore.

There have been numerous reports of Americans loaded on planes and buses to leave Afghanistan and our State Department made them get off. There is no excuse.

And there are reports as well from private organizations that the State Department is pressuring friendly countries around Afghanistan to deny landing rights to the groups still trying to fly people out.
