This is why I couldn't be a military officer.  If I'm an 82|AB commander, I am taking matters into my own hands by cooperating with UK commanders to rescue Americans and allies trapped throughout the city, knowing it will be the last orders I will ever be allowed to issue before getting court martialed. Clearly, the US officers depicted in the exchange above are not willing to disobey the atrocious orders they are being handed.

I am not certain the ruling party has the stones to court-Martial a 82nd Abn Div Colonel deployed on what THEY stated was a rescue mission because he actually gave orders to rescue people.

Chances are they will quietly "allow" him to retire once the smoke clears and he is back in the US. Which is a deal he WILL take because he knows he will never have another troop command,or ever get promoted again.

Absolutely NOT! They didn't become successful Pentgram or Capitol Hill bureaucrats by taking the blame for ANYTHING. They became successful career bureaucrats by SHIFTING the blame to anyone they saw as a threat to their careers.

President Joe Biden said the Taliban is “going through sort of an existential crisis” and credited the group for giving Americans “safe passage” to get out of Afghanistan, during an interview that aired Thursday.

Biden sat down with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos in what marked his first time answering questions from the press since the Taliban overtook Afghanistan. Stephanopoulos asked the president whether he believes the Taliban has changed, prompting Biden to declare “no” before clarifying his answer.

“Let me put it this way,” the president said. “I think they’re going through sort of an existential crisis about do they want to be recognized by the international community as being a legitimate government. I’m not sure they do.”

I have two words for you.

"Margaret Thatcher".

Its not necessarily the gender of leadership per se, but the qualities of the leaders - masculine vs feminine.

Each has its proper place, but feminine traits dominant in relations with enemies governed by masculine ones invites disaster.

Cap't obvious, but the obvious seems to takes a backseat often these days.

Not really, I'm following your point. A purely masculine government you end up with the Taliban. A feminine dominant one you end up flying gay pride flags from your foreign embassies. Maggie Thatcher's style was very masculine IMO.

She was "one in a million" ... no... "one in one hundred million".

Bottom line:  It's is idiocy of the highest order to pull out the troops before evacuating the US Citizens and the local Afghan Allies.

Now we don't even know how many Americans are in country.
