I'll consider believing that when I hear it from someone who actually knows something about immunology and vaccines. This is just MSM
Panic Porn fodder.
All five of the companies that have U.S. vaccines ...
I know what companies Gates refers to, but that phrasing is almost Bidenesque. Currently: two vaccines have received EUA,
not five; a third company has applied for EUA,
still not five; a fourth company is likely to apply for EUA in the next few days or weeks,
still not five; a fifth company, AstraZeneca, looks unlikely to apply for EUA,
so that fifth "U.S. vaccine" looks to be many months in the future (Inovio, currently Phase II? Vaxart, currently Phase I?). Like Melinda, Bill's mouth demonstrates how little he knows about what he advocates.
In the real world there is already evidence that Pfizer's, Moderna's, Johnson & Johnson's, and Novavax's vaccines are effective against the UK and South African variants. Similarly, there is also evidence that AstraZeneca's is ineffective against the South African variant. So Oxford University and AZ probably are investigating ways to broaden the vaccine's effectiveness. But AZ/Oxford are not Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and Novavax.
