There are a lot of good people who have been 'Galt' for the past year, through no wish of their own--conservative people who are on the brink, economically, now, if not over the edge. People who won't be paying taxes in the same bracket as last year, and may not be for the foreseeable future. Sure, some will be profiting, but they will be in the minority, and those who work some deals on the side won't be shelling out the tax dollars on any of that they can avoid declaring. Why scratch for a living to give it to people who are only going to spit on you, but who give the farm to anyone else who comes along? I expect to see as much noncompliance as is practicable. As for liberals, I never paid 'em much attention before unless they were stupidly advertising it, but won't do an iota more business with them than absolutely necessary.

Exactly.  Every $ I own now is (has)  intended to starve the socialist movement.  I also am withdrawing from my charitable endeavors.  My favorite "feel good"  stunt for at least 20 years, is to drop a $50 bill on the floor at a checkout, and give it to someone (like they dropped it) having trouble paying for groceries/supplies. I'd do this usually 6-8 times a year at various locations   In this newly minted socialist nation?  Not my problem any more.

I suspect a lot of church people have had the same reaction. They used to feed and house the poor, but why bother when Uncle Sugar is handing out SNAP and rent-free living?
