Pelosi: Democrats will demand vote-by-mail measures as part of next economic relief package
by Dominick Mastrangelo
 | April 22, 2020 04:55 PM

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi indicated she already knows which Democratic agenda item she would like to attach to the next coronavirus relief bill in Congress.

Citing a Senate Intelligence Committee report confirming Russia used misinformation to interfere in the 2016 election, Pelosi said it is imperative Democrats demand more people be allowed to vote by mail in the 2020 presidential election.

“No matter what the president says, it cannot be denied," Pelosi said Wednesday on MSNBC. "But it takes us to the next step. They have also told us 24/7 the Russians are still at work trying to undermine our election. That's why we have to have an important chunk of money in this next bill that will enable us to protect the integrity of our elections, as well as enable the American people to vote by mail, especially at this time of a health danger in going to the polls.”

The Senate passed a nearly $500 billion aid package Tuesday that will appropriate funds to small businesses struggling to stay afloat during the coronavirus pandemic, among other measures. It is expected to pass in the House later this week.

I am guessing this must come as a surprise to someone, somewhere on the planet.

It is their dying gasp to retain power.

It will take the cooperation of Mr. McConnell and Mr. Trump to resist this.
Either one can't do it on his own.

Trump has been blunt enough that even the Senate Pubs see why the Rats want "mail-in ballots".

There better not be another chance.

Is or is not voting, a state matter?

From my understanding, yes, it is a state matter, but they also must follow federal law. Just as each county is responsible for their election(s), but they must follow state laws.  So elections practices may vary somewhat in different counties but ultimately they have to follow state guidelines and each state varies throughout the country but they all must adhere to federal guidelines.

Is or is not voting, a state matter?

It depends.  The National Government has a lot to say about how elections for Federal offices are held.  If a city in Cali wants to let 16-year-olds vote in School Board elections, that's their choice, but try and let them vote for President or a Congressman and see what happens.
