Yeah I get it @HoustonSam  ... But that is precisely what I mean about the feds plowing the road. Now ain't the time for red tape. Now is when to knock out the chocks.

Every time I see the words "regulatory burdens" I read turf protections.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

What?
It IS happening anyhow. How the heck does it get all the way up here in mere days?

So for all the shutting everything down, it ain't stopped a dang thing.

It's not going to stop being transmitted until people stop exchanging money. Money is one of the greatest disease transmitters. It's one step above toilet paper when it comes to contamination's, and everybody handles it.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if China is "testing" one right now on the population.

@DB

Knowing the Chinese,I'd be surprised if they weren't.

I could go back to my office and be with the other 50-60 people there, but that could very well be a death sentence for my 90 yr old mom, who I look after.  I'll just work from home...

I have to say I agree with the Americans crying out they want to go to work.  There are situations like yours where you would not choose to go.  If people are not going to be in close contact. (living with, or caring for elderly or people with underlying conditions), why shouldn't they work?

Since the virus is now community spread, that person would have had to travel to another part of the country where the virus is present or someone visited the area from an infected area.  Though rare, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that the virus could have come in on a box delivered, fruit, vegetables, etc. and then the person touched their eyes, mouth or nose.

CASH MONEY.

I hear you about herd immunity but there is also something to be said for social distancing and doing a simple thing like washing your hands, washing produce and sanitizing items. The virus can live on surfaces for hours and some surfaces many days.

You going to tell everybody everywhere you purchase something to "keep the change"?

They aren't trying to eradicate the virus by social distancing, they are trying to contain it so that fewer people become ill or die.  We'll know in just a short time, whether or not this is proves successful.

How much distance are you willing to put between yourself and your cash?

In Italy, @sneakypete , they are even telling people not to use "vending machines", that was covered in one thread. Can one imagine, you want to buy a coke, chips and that.  At the least, hit the button with a stick, napkin or something. Pretty alarming.  Yes, and my understanding is that money gets real dirty.

Let-em-die crowd?  Seriously?  What health care professionals and infectious disease specialist told schools to close and businesses to shut their doors and lay off all their workers?  The only guidelines I have seen from such professionals are:

  • If you're sick, stay at home.
  • If you're kids are sick, keep them at home.
  • If anyone in your household tests positive, everyone stay home.
  • If you are over 65, stay at home.
  • If you have an underlying medical condition, stay at home.
  • Wash hands frequently for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your face.

Oh, so refreshing.  Some actually good advise.  It so stupid.  Inslee is so upset people are going out.  And people are hiking!  God forbid they have to pass each other on a trail.

What's also so disturbing to me is that Americans overseas can still get on a confined jet and fly home.  They should have left long ago.  I say leave them there.

No kidding. Have you seen where some people hide their "walking around" cash? That's why I say it is one small step above toilet paper.

Do yourself a favor and use a credit card every chance you get. If you want to leave a cash tip that's fine, but just don't take any cash from anyone else if you can avoid it.

Yeah, but that is EXACTLY what you are doing if you don't wash your hands EVERY time immediately after handling cash. No touching your eyes, nose, mouth,or even your clothes.

More than that, the more that get through the virus, the more are immune. Them SHOULD be the ones working, especially hospitals.

Imagine all the people that those checkers check out every single day at the grocery store.  And the health workers.  Every single grocery store is hiring right now.

Tom, in my book, "EMERGENCIES HAPPEN! BE PREPARED NOW!",
I suggest keeping a number of small bills, such as $1 dollar bills (more of them than any other), $2 dollar bills and some $5 dollar bills, and change such as 25 cent coins, at home always.  If banks close, credit cards are a piece of plastic no one wants, but the cash will help you get what you need, even if that is paying someone for a service you need done around your house.

With banks down, you can pay cash for groceries for a while - until the store closes due to no trucks bringing food.

The food chain is this:
A truck goes to a warehouse to pick up a load of whatever, such as food we are talking about.
Before the truck can leave, the money for delivering the load has to be paid right then or the truck does not leave.  This exchange of money between the two businesses, goes through the internet, the bank transaction is done and the truck can leave.  The truck will not leave to deliver the goods if this money transaction doesn't happen. Food delivery stops.

The problem with this headline is it's bass-ackwards.  You don't quarantine the healthy, you quarantine the sick.
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.

Yup.  You'll get no argument from me about that.

Brilliant.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

-Ayn Rand-
