"The average age of those who’ve died from the virus in Italy is 79.5. As of March 17, 17 people under 50 had died from the disease. All of Italy’s victims under 40 have been males with serious existing medical conditions."
So, there it is, people under 50.
Also, a lot of people from different age groups are using resources, they go into ICU, a lot need defibrillators, respirators and I'm sure, hospital beds, nurses and so on. I'm not sure one can say, you need this serious attention and we can allow this to grow in the general population.
Even getting tests, if one thinks they have it, is a drag on resources.
There might be some other effects too from the disease, sterilization (heard that mentioned just once)? Lungs? So, I think this is beyond the mortality rate.
Maybe after these 15 days, we will have a better idea.
As said, maybe in 15 days, we can start to move towards South Korea's effective approach which is NOT, staying in the house, etc. but monitoring oneself and so on, people go back to work.
