CNN ‘Disinformation’ Reporter Goes After Christian Satire Site Babylon Bee

Yesterday, CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, who covers “disinformation” for the network, published a thread about the Christian satire site Babylon Bee. According to O’Sullivan, many readers can’t figure out that the site is satire because it hides this fact from readers. In fact, he suggests the Bee might be hiding behind the satire label as a way to avoid being removed from Facebook.

1. The Bee makes it clear they are satire - explicitly and through the obviously over-the-top nature of much of their material.

2. While the Bee does quite a bit of political material, it also targets Evangelicals' own foibles.

3. MSM Proggies cannot handle the idea that obvious satire targeting the Dems the MSM love and serve is getting more circulation than the MSM's bootlickery.

But this full-court press (by outlets like CNN) is actually “dead serious” and has stemmed from their growing hatred for social media platforms having ended establishment media’s stranglehold on what the public can and can’t know and what they should think about the news of the day.

“[A]ll the hyperventilating about ‘fake news’ has nothing to do with truth and everything with control over the flow of information,” Gorby stated.

New York Magazine columnist Josh Barro disagreed, but he too was correct with this point, which was that “the Bee's critics think conservative readers are too dumb to be trusted with satire while liberal readers are smart enough to know what satire is.”

Washington Examiner’s T. Becket Adams continued that thought, conjuring up how it’s “fall-down-funny watching people get their knickers in a twist now over a single conservative satirical website” after “15+ years of beloved and acclaimed Jon Stewart-style ‘news’ shows.”

And Adams added that instead of being upset about that, the liberal media worshipped Stewart and even built a shrine of sorts to him at the failed and now-defunct Newseum.

My emphasis. Liberal satire good, conservative satire bad; some satire is more equal than others.

LOL: CNN Reporter Whines That A Single Satire Article Gets More Views Than CNN & NYT Combined

CNN reporter Donie O’Sullivan is apparently fed up with working for a fake news machine that is routinely called out in real-time for spreading 24/7 propaganda disguised as fact. And while it is true that news satire sites like The Babylon Bee often have “stories” that are read and shared far more often than CNN stories, Mr. O’Sullivan should take a moment to think about why that really is.
You see, the difference between CNN and open satire is becoming increasingly difficult to tell. Perhaps the primary difference is that one intends to be funny (satire) and the other is unintentionally funny. (CNN)
