The chief of police says two parishioners fatally shot a gunman who opened fire in a church near Fort Worth, Texas.
White Settlement Police Department Chief J.P. Bevering said during a news conference Sunday afternoon, that the shooter fired once in the West Freeway Church of Christ before congregants retaliated to cut his assault short.

From the article @austingirl linked, https://www.ksat.com/news/texas/2019/12/29/church-shooting-in-fort-worth-suburb-leaves-three-injured/

Quote
An elder at the church told the New York Times that one of those killed was a security guard who responded to the shooter, calling him a dear friend.

“He was trying to do what he needed to do to protect the rest of us,” said the elder, Mike Tinius.

“It’s extremely upsetting to see anyone committing violence,” he said.

Tinius said he didn't know the gunman and that the shooting appeared to be random.
...
WFAA, a Dallas-based TV station, reported that the church live-streamed the service on YouTube and that the video showed a man wearing a long coat produce a rifle or a shotgun which he fired twice before someone shot back. Some members of the congregation ducked behind pews while others with handguns rushed the gunman, WFAA said. ...
...
Trusty said she was told by a supervisor at the scene that one of the people who died was the shooter. In an interview with Dallas TV station KTVT, Mike Drivdahl, the spokesman for the Fort Worth Fire Department, said he believes the gunman was among the three who were shot. ...

NBC 5 recounted the livestream:

A live-stream recording of the church’s Sunday morning service showed the shooting and the commotion that followed.

In the video, someone thought to be the shooter gets up when the congregation greets each other, shakes hands and walks out talking to someone.

The shooter reenters the sanctuary, talks to a man in a suit and sits down. The person gets up again and talks to the same man, who points in a direction, and the shooter pulls out a firearm and shoots two people.

Another man pulls out a handgun and shoots the suspect. In the moments that follow, people can be heard screaming and church leaders ask that everyone sits down to wait for the police.

“Everything is under control. Our security team did exactly what they needed to do, but we do have one of our members that's injured, so please,” someone is heard saying. “We have a gentleman that came in armed to do harm, and the police are on their way.”

This cannot be true... having guns in the building won't stop anything and will put your eye out.....
Maybe we should try armed guards in schools.....

I'm with you!

My heart goes out to the Jews who were attacked in NY. As soon as my wife and I heard the news she said, "they should have guns to defend themselves!". Then a little later we learn about this church in Texas. The killer was put down like the rabid dog he was and unfortunately a Christian was killed as well, but it was stopped before more died.

Sure shows what idiots he and the rest of the gun control are.

We couldn't have a clearer example of what pro 2nd amnd. people have said all along with these two tragedies. In one case all the people can do is throw chairs at the animal and in the other the potential victims have a good guy with a gun put down the animal before more harm is done.

The irrational one is Uncle Joe.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Educating Liberals  @Education4Libs

Armed citizens keeping evil in check doesn’t play into the liberal agenda of disarming America.
And that’s why this Texas church shooting will quickly disappear from the news.
They’d rather have multiple casualties so they can blame the gun & attempt to disarm us.

Likely the church members recall this killing spree which occurred just a few miles away 20 years ago.

My son was a church attendee at the time and it was a real tough situation.
