3:50 p.m. Newsom won’t “sugarcoat itâ€: Gov. Gavin Newsom says the state faces a difficult couple of days, with the threat of wildfire and widespread PG&E blackouts. “The next 72 hours will be challenging,†he said at an event in Napa. “I could sugarcoat it, but I will not.â€
3:40 p.m. More than 15,000 Vallejo customers to be affected by power shut-off: Solano County sheriff’s officials said more than 15,000 PG&E customers in Vallejo are expected to affected by the shut-off starting around 4 p.m. Saturday.
3:30 p.m. Marin County Sheriff’s Office advises residents to use battery-powered radio if cell service is disrupted: If the wind event affects cell service coverage or WiFi, sheriff’s officials advise residents to tune in a battery-operated radio to local radio stations KCBS-AM 740 or KGO-AM 810.
3:20 p.m. Healdsburg air pollution control office evacuates amid evacuation order: The Northern Sonoma County Air Pollution Control District evacuated from its Healdsburg office, according to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. The Bay Area district will provide updates on behalf of the agency on its website.
2:40 p.m. Evacuation numbers updated: Sonoma County officials updated the number of people ordered evacuated in Healdsburg, Windsor and surrounding unincorporated areas — the total is 44,374 residents, down from an earlier rough estimate of 50,000. An additional 43,411 residents in other areas are covered by evacuation warnings, meaning they should be prepared to evacuate.
