Sen. Paul: Budget Deal May Be ‘Most Fiscally Irresponsible Thing We’ve Done’ in U.S. History

Prior to the Senate vote on the two-year budget deal arranged by President Trump and the congressional leadership, Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) spoke on the Senate floor saying, “This may well be the most fiscally irresponsible thing we’ve done in the history of the United States.”

The deal, which passed the House last week and the Senate on Aug. 1, will increase discretionary federal spending by $320 billion and allow the federal government to borrow an unlimited amount of money until July 31, 2021...........

This budget allow the feds unlimited borrowing until 2021 --- well after the next election.

This budget gives unlimited funding until 2021 -- which if Trump doesn't win in 2020, the DEMS will also have access to an open wallet.

Well, the unlimited part is the amount that can be borrowed, since they extended the bizarre construct of "suspending" the debt limit until July of 2021...  how long has it been since they've been practicing this particular bit of chicanery?  I would have to look it up, but I wouldn't be surprised if we are going on close to 10 years now...

Remember when they used to actually vote to raise the debt limit to a particular dollar amount?  And how it was often used as a tool to get some decent measures enacted?

Then they decided that rather than go through all of that messiness, they would just vote to "suspend" (i.e., pretend that it doesn't exist) the debt limit to some future date.  I'm pretty sure that zero was in the WH and Boehner was Speaker, the first time they devised this stupidity....

That's right. Went from a high 90s score down into the low 80's  following Tumpy the Clown around.
