Had rain every day (snow, even!) and night time temps in the 30s. Feels a lot like home, only wetter (some desert, huh? :shrug:)
It's the second time I have worked in a desert area in the last year and been rained on for better'n a week. Maybe I should go on the road to drought areas and charge to hang out.....

That's the Good Lord lookin out for a poor northern boy (Ha! see what I did there  :silly:)

LOL!

@Sanguine

Well, the pudding is because I found out my milk has almost turned, and I have to use it up... BTW, make it with cream skimmed off of raw milk and you will never go back...

But yeah - Sabbath is a celebration. I try not to cook after friday sundown, so I go at it early on friday afternoon and make what I need for Shabbat.

So egg/bacon/cheese salad on sourdough for breakfast, a nice beef salsa thing on a pretzel roll for lunch, and chili or chili mac for tonight and saturday night... Plenty of fruit (to include my first watermelon for the year), and of course, the brownies in a salted caramel sauce...

I wish I had an avacado for under the egg salad, but I'll make due without.  :shrug:

I wondered.  People have different customs...

   We certainly need to move beyond Trumpers against the World, it's getting stale.

No custom... Just trying to go by what the Bible says.

Don't work (other than chores), don't travel (other than a little hiking), don't cook (so cold-cuts, I guess).
A day of rest with family to include the Father above... By definition, it is a feast, not a fast.

So a Bible study down at the fishin hole ought not be out of the ordinary.
and if I happen to bring a sammich and some brownies (in a perfect home-made salted caramel sauce), what could be wrong with that?

And that's the plan.

Yeah, sorry to crash the party on exclusivity, nobody needs the South's heritage of slavery or lynching, Romer1 doesn't need to lecture us on religion or the south, he abandoned the unborn.  Enough, of this one way drama here at the expense of others. It took real bravery to fight against a side that had this evil on its side, that being slavery. Slavery has nothing to do with being a good Christian, don't bully your bankrupt morals into this thread.

A "Roy Moore thread" here at the Briefing Room is always a good time to find out which way the sentiments and true political "tilts" of the members of this forum REALLY lean...

OK, I'll bite...  can you share your secrets for the  PERFECT home made salted caramel sauce?

(One of my favorites and would love a good recipe and/or tips!)

These are the kinds of posts that make me scratch my head, Tommy...

You do such a great job with your research and digging on so many topics...  also provide us a lot of good "big picture" views on key world events....

Why do you blow up and crap like this on a thread from time to time??

I just don't get it.

   Look on the bright side @EdJames he didn't accuse you of facilitating the killing of Christians in the Middle East.

@EdJames

Kinda this:

Error 404 (Not Found)!!1

I put the measured (salted) butter in the freezer just as I start, and I suspect I am using more vanilla. and the only trick I have is that I want a deeper tone, so I put a tiny bit of blackstrap molasses in it once the cream and butter calm down, but while it is still hot...

I mean I take a regular table spoon, dunk it in the room temp molasses before I start, and let it drip back into the bottle the whole time till there is just a skiff of it left on the spoon... whatever will not fall off... Then I drag that through the caramel till the most of it comes off... That gave me that deep tone I wanted.

I had one heck of a time not getting toffee at the end, my old way, but this stays nice and soft.

A nice hunk of brownie, scatter some finely chopped walnuts on top (pecans are better if you have em), drizzle liberally with the caramel sauce, and finish with a very light dust of sea salt.

It is perfection.
