Quote

President Donald Trump eased up on his threats to close the southern border as officials across his administration explored half-measures that might satisfy the president's urge for action, like stopping only foot traffic at certain crossings......

Ok...so he played tiddlie winks with Chuckie and Nancy and now he's playing ping-pong with Mexico.  He has no intent whatsoever of shutting down the border.  No wall either.  Meanwhile ... 10,000's of new DEM voters are either here or on their way!

People, it's all show.   Trump lies and says a lot of things he doesn't really mean.  It's all to impress and entertain his fans.  After all, he is a master of reality tv and his is the reality tv presidency.  Nothing is real.

He's done some good; unemployment is down, the economy is decent, allies with Israel, the courts are somewhat more conservative.  As for illegal immigration and the wall, he has F A I L E D  B I G L Y ! ! !

Economic news cannot be trusted.   "Allies with Israel?"  Yet, sending nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia.  The courts -- not so sure about that either.  Still too early to tell.

And Trump has failed with the other major promises he made during his campaign, not just illegal immigration.  He and his party frittered away two years of control of both houses of congress and the presidency  and apart from a tax tweak (not the tax reform we were promised) did little to nothing about those promises.  They  lost any chances of fulfilling those promises when the Democrats took back the House, but because Trump wants to be president again in 2020, he is now suddenly making noises about illegal immigration and Obamacare.  But it's just that -- noise.  Even if Trump wins again in 2020, nothing will be done.  it can't, so long as the Democrats have the House.  And I doubt  anything would be done if Republicans could get back control of both houses and the presidency.    After all, they have actually been making these same promises since at least 2010.  if they haven't done anything by now, they never will.

Those who support Trump have been bamboozled, but I don't think they realize it.  How many times are they going to continue to fall for his lies and empty promises?  It's all make-believe.

Mr. Trump, that's "a step" in the WRONG direction.

Close the border -- regardless of the economic impact.
That will be dealt with soon enough.

Get things back UNDER CONTROL, if it requires 30-40,000 troops or more to do so.

Re-establish "a border" between the United States and Mexico.
There sure as heck ain't one there NOW.

Something very weird about the concertina wire.  The woman grabs it with both hands and doesn't bleed.  They are shoving babies right through it too.

I like avacado in my burger but I can live without for awhile.  Let the avacado's rot in Mexico for all I care.  And do I care about the corporations that moved to Mexico?  No.  Hold up some manufacturing to get the attention of our corrupt government.

It isn't going to stop the illegal immigrants coming in between Ports of Entry.  But it sure will get everyones attention.

Check this video out.

Absolutely.  They refuse to believe it and they refuse to hold his feet to the fire and continue to give him a free pass on everything.  When we no longer have a country left, they'll still be praising Trump.

I think he has made his own reality television show out of the Presidency. You are probably right its make-believe.  Some people waiting on every word.  Next episode.

8888huh  Whoa.  I didn't see that coming.  Trump is NOT closing the border?!?  Did anybody call this as BS?

Very disappointing, but at least Mexico is paying for the Wall, Hitlery has been captured, and the President of the United States has been cleared of being a pawn of the Soviet Union.  God Bless America  :flag:

I disagree. He tries to bluff but he's done it so many times that it no longer has an impact.

Avocados from Mexico are more tasty, but Florida produces their own variety.  I am positive that I will survive without my daily slices of Haas avocado, and I am also positive that this country will not survive as we now know her with continual invasion.

Florida Avocado -- larger and brighter green in color

Florida avocados are also lower in fat and calories and the fat is what is beneficial to health, but we will survive.  California grows them as well.

Actually, I avoid produce from Mexico.  Too many stories of tainted lettuce and other vegetables or fruit.  Whatever I buy, I look for the "Grown in the USA" label or something similar.

Of course, now with so many Mexican illegals in this country, God only knows what they do to our produce.  US produce might not be safe either.

Now my brother, who has been to Chile several times, says grapes and other produce grown in Chile are safe.  He says Chile, unlike Mexico, understands the concepts of good hygiene and sanitation.

QFT!!

We Republicans need to decide if this man is going to continue to represent our party.   There's still time to keep the policies that have triggered the current economic boom while urging the Game-Show-Host-in-Chief to step aside.   The next election is going to decide the futures of both conservatism and socialism.    And the best weapon the socialists have got is the Trump distraction.

We've gone from it looking like a permanent Democratic presidency, to a Republican presidency that for all purposes could turnout to be a 16 year run.

Yeah, replace Trump.

Sorry to disappoint if one wants endless wars, high unemployment, low economic growth, you break my heart.

Ok, with that being stated, who does the GOP have that is going to challenge him in 2020??  They don't.

Then the GOP,  and anyone else who doesn't want this nation to descend into a socialist, identity-obsessed swamp, is screwed.

Trump can and must be persuaded to step aside.    His vindication by the Mueller report should, I think,  make this necessary task easier.

Again, who does the GOP have to replace Trump???  IF Trump does NOT do something to resolve the current border crisis and the continual influx of illegals, we lose this Republic.  Pure and simple.  The other problem @Jazzhead  is the issue needs to be resolved now. We're out of time and Trump is who we have.  The crisis at the border isn't fictional.  The fact that they are overwhelmed at the border and our border agents are letting them in without vetting is a fact.  If we remain on our current course, how long do you think it will be before we are another Europe?? IMHO, at best, a year.
