WOW Air ceases operations and cancels all flights, leaving thousands stranded and angry

Iceland's low-cost carrier WOW Air has ceased operations – and the passengers left in a lurch by the airline's sudden shutdown are taking their outrage to social media

The announcement came in a travel alert posted to their website Thursday, which says all flights have been canceled.

Furthermore, it advises passengers to "check available flights with other airlines" if they have not yet reached their destination

The airline has been struggling for some time.  A friend of mine flew with WOW last year.  He said he n loved the low fares, but not the part of never knowing whether you would get to your destination or get  back home.

No refunds, either. Basically, WOW just told its customers "you're SOL."

We flew WOW to and from PIT to FRA about six months ago. No major complaints from us. I believe they're a subsidiary of Icelandic Air, which used to be the premier "budget" carrier to Europe.
