Murkowski: FBI investigation into Kavanaugh would ‘clear up all the questions’
By Michael Burke - 09/25/18 10:43 AM EDT

Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) on Tuesday said an FBI investigation into sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh would "clear up all the questions" surrounding the Supreme Court nominee.

“It would sure clear up all the questions, wouldn’t it?” she said when asked if there should be a further FBI investigation into the nominee's past.

Murkowski, along with GOP Sens. Jeff Flake (Ariz.) and Susan Collins (Maine), is considered one of a few potential swing votes in Kavanaugh's confirmation process.

No, it really wouldn't.  You'd end up right where you are at this moment.  Ford saying "he did it", Kavanaugh saying "no I didn't", and the other people Ford listed as witnesses saying "I don't remember ever being at a party with those people."

Murkowski losing her spine is a bad sign, although there is a high-profile sexual assault case that's occupying headlines in Alaska right now.

Collins is the key.  If you get her, you can lose Murkowski.  And I don't think Murkowski would want to be the vote that sinks Kavanaugh.

I despise this jerk as much as I despise my own senators. She lost her primary and still managed to snake herself a seat in the senate.

The Tar-Baby is the second of the Uncle Remus stories published in 1880; it is about a doll made of tar and turpentine used by the villainous Br'er Fox to entrap Br'er Rabbit. The more that Br'er Rabbit fights the Tar-Baby, the more entangled he becomes.

That's what the Russia investigation is, that is what this would become.  An investigation can go here, there and that's why the term is applicable. Then, they might not vote until March or something. What a traitor to the party she is. AZ and AL have Republicans in the Senate who don't vote with the Republicans.

I wonder is she would be so cavalier if the FBI were investigating her for some reason.  The elected officials are so sure they have total protection from the snooping of the FBI or other investigative organizations, they see   destroying the integrity of OTHER people as no big deal.  But when one of their own, especially democrats, is investigated the howling sounds like a male bear "in love" with another bear and is letting her know.  farter000000

The FBI have already performed extensive background checks on Kavanaugh and scores of witnesses have testified to his character, including his honorable treatment of women. All of the named potential witnesses in the Ford accusation, including her "lifelong friend," have denied any knowledge of the alleged incident, and both the New Yorker and the New York Times were unable to find a single witness to the second eleventh-hour allegation, getting instead more testimonies to Kavanaugh's character.

Sounds like to me it's already been cleared up.

Right?
I can't figure out what is to investigate, especially since she can't provide any details to chase down (or at least none that haven't been otherwise contradicted by her supposed witnesses).

@Polly Ticks it's the old Dem belief that the accusation is more important than any actual crime that was committed.

Yes, agreed.  Which is why I commented that I liked the term "accusatocracy" in this thread:

This whole fiasco is a very unfunny joke.  A joke on the good and decent people of America... and designed to fool the dumbed down masses of Democrat voters who won't know any better, thanks to the lying media....so they'll just continue to vote Democrat this November.

That comment the left holds against Trump about 'he could shoot someone and not lose any supporters' more aptly applies to the idiot left, IMO.  They are the sheeple.  They are the ones that are clueless and continue to support these radical leftists (commies) no matter what.

Sounds like to me it's already been cleared up.

Anybody who is still whining about this is looking for an excuse to vote against Kavanaugh, an excuse that will work with their constituents.

And now the nutcase's attorney is calling Thursday into question with more demands.

It's time to vote.

I think you're right.  If she cancels on Thursday, they should just go ahead and vote on Thursday.
