I do not like it that Grassley seems to think he should give this woman and her little partner-in-crime DiFi the time of day. The charge is ancient; it cannot be proven and she is an obvious democrat plant.
It is an insult to Kavanaugh and all of us to even consider this bogus charge.
Here's the thing -- we don't know everything Grassley knows. If Grassley believes the evidence will suggest that it isn't true, then he's actually doing Kavanaugh a favor by giving him a chance to rebut this publicly, in front of the entire country. The alternative is having this accusation hang over Kavanaugh, essentially unrebutted in the eyes of most of the public, for the rest of his life. It is entirely possible Grassley believes that when all is said and done, the Democrats will come out of this looking terrible. There may be a lot of facts of which we are unaware.
Just looking at Kavanaugh...he doesn't exactly seem like he was a party animal in high school. Seems more like the nerdy type that may not even have gotten invited to many parties in the first place. I'd hold off on judging Grassley on this until we see how it all plays out. It is entirely possible that Kavanaugh's rebuttal/denial will be very powerful, and will really hurt the Dems going into the midterms.
Obviously, that may
not be the case as well. But we here simply don't know, so it seems premature to criticize Grassley.
