Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, will announce Thursday that he is will run to replace Paul Ryan as House Speaker.

Jordan confirmed to reporters he is running for Speaker and that he will be circulating a note to his colleagues announcing his run.

“Yes,” Jordan said when asked to confirm reports that he is running for the post. “We are sending a letter to all of our colleagues.”

“Should the American people entrust us with the majority again in the 116th Congress, I plan to run for Speaker of the House to bring real change to the House of Representatives," he said in a formal statement. "President Trump has taken bold action on behalf of the American people. Congress has not held up its end of the deal, but we can change that. It’s time to do what we said."

Jordan had been floating a possible Speaker bid since Ryan, R-Wis., announced he was not running for re-election.

I hope he can win.  May be a long shot but it's certainly possible.

All those reading who have RINOs representing them:  get on the phones to support Jordan.

I have Louie Gohmert, so I do not need to.

Remember when Paul Ryan was supposedly a big budget hawk?   When he leaves government, the federal deficit will be $1.2 trillion higher than when he arrived.

Oh, how we need a change from that.

I do remember.

It seems like ages ago now.

Did budgetary spending still go down under the Democratic president? There are plenty of details involved instead of just throwing out one liners.

BTW, the vote has not been made, so let's see....this article was posted yesterday on 10 or so possible candidates:

But in recent weeks, the Ohio Republican has seen his chances dwindle as he’s battled allegations that he failed to protect wrestlers from sexual abuse when he was an assistant coach at Ohio State University.

I'd hope Jordan would win it, he may be wanting to impeach Rosenstein in part to give himself a name as a guy who gets things done and show support of President Trump.

So, Paul Ryan came into congress in 1999?  He saw 3 different presidents in office and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars which notably, cost a lot of money and besides some event called 911. Yeah, let's go after Paul Ryan here.   :silly:

Hellz yeah!

Screw the media/Dem hit job. That doctor served at least 14 sports programs, each with head and assistant coaches, plus the Athlestic Director. But this falls completely on Jordan's shoulders?

BS.
The Republic is lost.

Ryan f'ed up, he had his glorious moment with Gingrich's 'Contract with America' after that he was corrupted by Boehner and of no use.
Be Gone, azzhole, you've outlived your purpose.

The key to all this is who will Trump support, it is his party.
The GOP will talk him into the status quo ~ McCarthy, IMHO.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Considering what the status quo is currently doing to him that would be an immense disappointment.

The last thing we need is another K Street lackey as Speaker of the House!
