We’re just not used to a president this candid.

I think you mean this hypocritical. The gratuitous stuff about Argentina can be easily countered by Sanford or other FC members, by joking about the time Donald, Ivana, and Marla all ran into each other on the ski slope.  Maybe they could have a few laughs about Karen Mcdougal or the time with Stormy, when Trump had his face and ass on the cover of Forbes simultaneously.  I’m sure Trump would find that hilarious.

We’ve never seen a president this honest, and it actually scares some folks.

This is a non issue and fake news since the car accident .

Idk if you ever read The_Donald. It's high energy and can be a little salty.  I thought you might like this thread.  The OP could be seen as hamhanded but he sticks to his guns. Every POV gets a few licks in before it's over.

I just don't see the point of continuing to attack somebody who has already lost.  It's like when he kept calling Cruz "Lyin' Ted" long after he clinched the nomination.  That didn't gain any votes, it just alienated Cruzers.

Asbestos on....

I agree, and I hope Sanford will manage to keep his yap shut too now that he's lost, but I'm not counting on it.
The Republic is lost.

We’re just not used to a president this candid. He let’s us know where he stands without the phony “political considerations.”

The best moment of the rally last night was when he implored attendees to “Get your asses out and vote!” Could you imagine any past president breaking from decorum and talking like a normal guy? We’ve never seen a president this honest, and it actually scares some folks.

There's a difference between candid & honest and no-filters.  If we all said whatever we thought whenever we thought it, we'd have no friends or a job.  Wasn't there a movie like that?

Freedom Caucus to Trump: Lay off Sanford attacks

By Juliegrace Brufke - 06/25/18 09:59 PM EDT

Members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus on Monday urged President Trump to drop his ongoing attacks against Rep. Mark Sanford in the wake of his primary loss earlier this month.

Trump mocked the South Carolina Republican in his home state at a campaign rally for Gov. Henry McMaster (R), saying he “never liked [Sanford] too much.”

"The Tallahassee [sic] Trail, must be a beautiful place," Trump said, taking a dig at Sanford’s infamous affair during his time serving as governor. "Unfortunately for him, he didn't go there."

C'mon @corbe that's pretty weak mocking.  I'm sure you could do better.

He's getting better @Emjay by the end of his first term he'll have it mastered like a few others here.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

I never could understand this about Trump. Its political campaigning 101, dont p*ss off the other guys voters unneccessarily.

We will never completely understand Trump but Sanford has been shooting off his mouth lately.  Unfortunately, I can't remember the source.

I continue to find it interesting that supporters think Trump is a genius because he's "candid", but candid will start a knock-down drag-out here on the forum.  I'm sure I will never understand it.

Not to worry, Trump’s got a filter. In person Trump’s as polite and gracious as the next fellow. But, on the political stage don’t get in the way of his agenda, because the gloves come off.

Don’t let media caricatures of Trump sway you into thinking he’s some sort of dummy. He’s not, he’s highly intelligent and he knows exactly what he’s doing.

Oh, I don't think he's a dummy.  I just think he says things sometimes that cause more harm than good.

According to whom? Every time Trump tweets something “outrageous” his critics say that’s it, there goes another self inflicted wound. But, I have yet to see any evidence of injury. He just continues to forge ahead gaining in popularity and – once all the facts are out – we find out he won those issues, despite the dire warnings of his critics.

According to recent history.  Every politician wears out his welcome.  In 2000, you had 'Clinton fatigue.'  By 2006, there was 'Bush fatigue.'  In 2008, you even had Gingrich saying stuff like the Reagan era is over.  That gave us 8 years of the biggest socialist we've had since the New Deal days.  I don't know when it'll happen, but 'Trump fatigue' is inevitable.  You definitely won't like what arrives in its wake.

This is true. Trump has faced nonstop media attacks and an almost total lack of support from his own party's leadership.  His own AG has consistently sided with Trump critics over his boss. Mueller has financially ruined a slew of Trump supporters.  Still Trump advances the platform he ran on and rises in the polls. Now I'm reading that more Democrats and Independents attended the Minnesota rally than Republicans. Love him or hate him, the evidence says Trump is prevailing against all odds. His methods,  which so many dislike, are effective in the hostile environment in which Trump exists.

A R that hates Trump is a "reliable conservative" according to our NeverTrumpers.
Yep.  Those damn dirty HFC.  Whoops. I mean NO.

Trumpers like Republicans who abandon every conservative principle like Hannity, Levin, and Rush.
According to Rush "Conservatism works every time it is tried."...except spending, healthcare, border security, and holding elected official accountable I guess.

I'm trying to make a point with sarcasm, but maybe those issues are not relevant to Trump Republicans.  They used to be.

Uh, no.   Candour is one thing, and Trump is often that.  Acting like a dumb, boorish bully is another.  He can be that, too, and it’s easy to differentiate.
