â€˜Dismantle whiteness’ mural installed at USC
Drew Van Voorhis - San Diego State University •April 11, 2018

An artistic mural has been installed at the University of Southern California that declares “dismantle whiteness” in big, black and white capital letters, one part of a larger display designed to spark conversations regarding “racism, sexism and xenophobia,” according to its creators.

The mural was designed by the feminist artist collective When Women Disrupt in conjunction with students in the class “Women: Designing Media for Social Change.”

I find it highly amusing when one of the idiots whined about lack of visibility for "people of color." You can barely watch a movie, tv show, tv commercial, etc. and not see a "poc" or three.
More maladjusted mental cases complaining about their lot in life. They might as well command the tide to quit rolling in and out.

White people are substantively different from Black people. Even they recognize this basic fact. Disparaging "Whiteness" as it is called, which is done almost exclusively by White people, will not change facts or reality. I cannot imagine what they think they are accomplishing.

In the name of pandering to other races in order to bring them up, these White activists are only sowing discord and hate. They are in fact making things much, much worse for everyone.

It's about as asinine as Jay-Z, a black man...who has become filthy rich, complaining about ""white privilege"" keeping black people down.  Perhaps all that money he has amassed has caused him to forget what color he is...?

Exactly right/spot on.  It's just another technique/tool of the radical left to implement that commie agenda.

Yes, I read that interview.  Here's a person who has made close to a billion dollars with rap  "music" i.e. crap music complaining about living in a country with white people, many of whom helped make him obscenely rich.
The hypocrisy is galaxy-sized.

That "mural" is just a modern day version of this with a different ethnic group targeted:

They hope for similar results.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

It's cool, dismantle all the Federal Funds USC receives by the percentage of White taxpayers, I mean why force White tax dollars on them. I am sure there are more than enough non-White Alumni dollars to make up the difference, because of course, they surely wouldn't want those wealthy White alumni's cash it's tainted.

Yet from a cultural point of view, what is truly great about America and American music, would be the results of our uniqueness.

--Rock n Roll from the merger of white and black folk music (Jazz, Country & Western)

--American jazz (white and black), etc.

IOW you can't take the white or the black out of Rock or Jazz, without diminishing them.

(some excelent music comes from styles in South Africa, and the Caribbean with similar impacts)

A potential next step would be to take the "whiteness" out of the cultures of California, Texas,, etc.

I smile at eople. Black people smile back. Ray Charles did a Country-Western album in his early career. Mark Levin plays Ray Charles' "Star Spangled Banner," on Fridays.

You mentioned jazz. Without its Afro-Cuban roots, jazz might never have developed as the rhythmic, exciting musical form we know today. So, yes African culture is deeply entwined in the American experience. But, then there’s gangster rap...  ****slapping

When I first heard rap, all I could think of was playing 'dozens' (AKA: 'capping', 'signifying') when we were kids. I thought, "This sh*t won't last long...Then we can have music again." Then I heard a 'country' song with a rap movement in it.   9999hair out0000

Sadly, it was about the most wrong I have ever been.

I have noticed my grandkids seem to like 70s and 80s rock and roll much more.

Eminem. The trend has been for white folks to embrace black music, since  Elvis and even before that.

For Jazz, Stan Getz and Dave Brubeck.

I have a cool cassette of "Rhythm, Country & Blues" which pairs black and white artists, and sound great.

I know I pick on rap often, but if forced I’ll grant it’s reason for being is as valid as any musical style that’s evolved from earlier forms. However, it is at this point monotonous and stale. I keep praying it will just go away. But as long as New York/LA entertainment elite control the national culture we will continue getting it in commercials, movies and at the top of the charts.

Your grandkids have good taste, btw.

My wife and I watched the entire series of "Justified" about a federal marshal played by Tim Olyphant who does in the bad guys.
Anyway, the opening theme "music" was some form of hillbilly/ bluegrass rap.  My wife and I heard it one time and muted it every time afterwards.
All forms of rap "music" we start hearing while watching tv get automatically muted.

Darius Rucker (from "Hootie and the Blowfish") is also a Country Artist, he's got the perfect voice for it.

Whites liked the rhythms and beats in black music which was mostly missing from the popular white music of the day. Teens in the fifties wanted something a little more exciting than ballad singers or crooners.
But most whites who attempted to imitate or sound like black groups rarely succeeded.  For instance, the Rollingstones sometimes called themselves a rhythm and blues group rather than a rock and roll group.
I never thought the RSs sounded anything like the black musicians I heard during that era. I liked the RSs, but they definitely didn't sound like Sam and Dave or other black groups.
Nevertheless, both whites and blacks adapted musical forms from each other and changed them into something different.  Mostly white rock and roll did not sound like mostly black rhythm and blues and vice versa. Jazz was supposedly an adaption of classical music that blacks changed to make something different.
So let's celebrate the musical innovations all groups brought to the nation.....except for rap.

Charlie Pride too. To some extend Chuck Berry.

In my book, there is a good bit of crossover between Country, Blues, Rock etc.

"Country Blues," is among my favorite styles. Chris Stapleton a prime example.

I dislike Rap. I like Reggae. I have heard some music from South Africa that is very good.

The merger of black and white music, resulting in blues and jazz and rock, is loved in Europe.

In turn europe has some great music and performers, doing American style music. The British Invasion was mainly brits putting a new twist on (mostly) black blues.

If you look at the Stones, you see one thing. If you look at John Mayall and his Bluebreakers, you see another version.

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mack yet another. And Cream added another interpretation of black American blues.

My band in the 60’s played primarily R&B. We called ourselves The Blues Movement. Bad idea. After audiences heard us our name was turned into The Bowel Movement.
