Trump: 'I'd run in there' to stop school shooting even without a gun
by Sarah Westwood | Feb 26, 2018, 11:51 AM

President Trump said Monday he would have entered the Parkland, Fla., high school where a shooter killed 17 children and adults even if he did not have gun, referring to the four armed deputies who waited outside the building while the attack unfolded.

"I really believe I'd run in there even if I didn't have a weapon," Trump said during a meeting with Republican governors at the White House.

Trump has proposed arming teachers in response to the shooting, which has reignited a national conversation about gun control and school safety.

The president said on Monday that he had lunch with National Rifle Association leaders over the weekend and conveyed that the NRA executives had expressed their shared desire to "do something" about gun violence.

He spoke in the wake of mounting criticism against the Broward County Sheriff's office, who's four deputies waited outside while the shooting took place. Sheriff Scott Israel defended that failure to act over the weekend, and said he has provided "amazing leadership" to his office.

Who believes this?
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Hey Trump! - why make it about what you would do imbecile?

You trying to one-up Obama in the 'me, me, me' and 'I-I-I' camp?

Ego-maniacal blowhard.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

This statement has to fall under the “bad” Trump category

And this is another example how he sets himself up for ridiculed by his enemies

I think what he meant to say is that he would run in to stop the school shooting if not for those darn bone spurs in the heels.   :tongue2:

I think that he has a school age child that he loves and he wants to believe that that is what he would do in that situation.  None of us know how much we would sacrifice until we are in that kind of crisis, but I would think that most of the people on this board could picture ourselves acting on our convictions in a crisis.

Of course he would.  A highly trained, heavily armed detail follows him everywhere.

At least that was reportedly the case in November 1991, when Trump was on his way to a Paula Abdul concert in his limo and saw a man being pummeled on an unidentified Manhattan street. “

The portion in bold negates any other part of the story.

I was old enough to legally drink in 1991 and you wouldn’t have caught me dead at a Paula concert.

I have this hilarious image of Trump and Roy Moore jammed in the same door trying to get into the high school.

But he might have been helpful. I heard he was pretty good at dodging things in his youth.
