Liberals livid after deal to end shutdown

Activist groups were angry at how the negotiations turned out, with some calling it '#SchumerSellout.'

Liberal activists are furious with Democratic senators after most of them agreed to reopen the federal government without a firm path to shielding young immigrants from deportation.

As the third day of the shutdown dawned, liberal advocates and immigration groups fired off a joint statement blasting as "unacceptable" Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-Ky.) offer to merely hold a vote on immigration — with no promises for action from the House or White House — in exchange for Democratic votes to reopen the government. But three hours later, Democratic senators agreed to just those terms — sparking anger on the left.

"Millions of people flooded the streets of every major American city to stand up to Trump this weekend," tweeted Leah Greenberg, the co-executive director of the influential activist network Indivisible. "Your constituents want you to fight. How can you possibly not understand that?"

He's gotta take them all the way down this time. There has to be some serious, enforceable immigration reforms or we might as well just chuck it all.

The white house even slapped Lindsey Graham down.

Let’s be clear about what the Democrats tried to do here. They wanted to tie DACA to the government funding bill so they could save DACA  in exchange for funding govt. instead of later having to agree to a lot of border security measures to protect DACA on a separate bill.

Be patient. When the memo is released, and the point it makes, are fully supported by evidence....we win.

"Winning" in this case, means reclaiming the "rule of law."

But I am worried about Wray, and  DOJ IG Horowitz, who may be members of the "deep state," willing to further delay to protect their career-long buddies.

I don't follow the "Q-anon" stuff but I understand part of this giant scandal, it how huge it is, and how hard to fully take it down.

Schumer really stepped in a pile of dog poop with this stunt. The only gain for him was that he ruined Trumps anniversary. However the downside is that he has labeled the Democrat Party as the Party of illegals over the American people.


I can't predict how this will play out in the coming election, but there is no way it can be good. The Dems already had the Latino vote in the bag already, so there no gain there. But I wonder how this will affect the Black vote. Blacks and Hispanics compete for the same jobs and benefits. So the Dems coming out as being fully and entirely on the side of the illegals cannot make the Black community happy.


This was a huge miscalculation by Schumer. He is used to dealing with the GOPe losers who always cave no matter what. Schumer and the Democrats have never dealt with anyone like Trump. There is bound to be a learning curve and this was lesson one.
