Paul Ryan Sees His Wild Washington Journey Coming to An End
« on: December 15, 2017, 12:20:13 am »
https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/12/14/paul-ryan-retire-speaker-ready-leave-washington-216103

pirits were high inside the House chamber on Thursday, November 16, when, in the early afternoon, the gavel fell and a measure to rewrite the American tax code passed on a partisan tally of 227 to 205. As the deciding votes were cast—recorded in green on the black digital scoreboard suspended above the floor—the speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, threw his head back and slammed his hands together. Soon he was engulfed in a sea of dark suits, every Republican lawmaker wanting to slap him on the shoulder and be a part of his moment.

Ryan was the man of the hour. Having spent a quarter-century in Washington—as an intern, waiter, junior think-tanker, Hill staffer and, since 1999, as a member of Congress—he had never wavered in his obsession with fixing what he viewed as the nation’s two fundamental weaknesses: its Byzantine tax system and ballooning entitlement state. Now, with House Republicans celebrating the once-in-a-generation achievement of a tax overhaul, Ryan was feeling both jubilant and relieved—and a little bit greedy. Reveling in the afterglow, Ryan remarked to several colleagues how this day had proven they could accomplish difficult things—and that next year, they should set their sights on an even tougher challenge: entitlement reform. The speaker has since gone public with this aspiration, suggesting that 2018 should be the year Washington finally tackles what he sees as the systemic problems with Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

He needs to follow his buddies Reince and Spicer out the door and prove that the Boehner/GOP alliance is finally in their twilight.  Good F'in riddance.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

A huge disappointment.  I was always told he was a conservative.  Yeah.  Right.

His wife is a tax attorney and registered K Street lobbyist.  You KNOW he has been well taken care of!

It's worse than that. It's a marriage of convenience. Her family are millionaire political power brokers in that state. That's why she isn't his wife.......she's his beard.

Paul Ryan has been a disaster ever since he was assigned by Romney to run with him in '12.  Let him die away from public life so we do not see him for another 30 years like Shelby, McCain, etc.
No punishment, in my opinion, is too great, for the man who can build his greatness upon his country's ruin~  George Washington

Are you kidding?  He is the Speaker of the House for God's sake!  He controls who sits on every committee in the place and who votes on what when.

The entire agenda in fact!

Ex Speaker of the House will be able to rake in millions of K Street cash like a MoFo once he isn't "encumbered" with ethics rules. You see any ex Speakers living in govt' housing? (Hastert doesn't count.)

Get with the program @RoosGirl

At least he has the simple common sense to get out while he can still enjoy his money. Go to the Virgin Islands and live like a king, with a dozen naked maids.

It's a lot better than waiting until you're 85 before you decide to 'live' a little. Or worse yet, to chain yourself to your desk until you keel over dead.

You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists.

It is past time for him to step aside ... though in all likelihood, he will be replaced with somebody obnoxious and even more compromised.  If the dems have any sense it will not be Pelosi.

He ain't going nowhere!  If the voters in his district decide to throw his azz out of congress he will simply move over a few streets in Washington.

Money isn't half the fun unless you have the power to go with it.

I don't see Paul Ryan contributing significantly to the money or power that the family already apparently has.  There must be a better looking, actually straight man that can help that girl out.
