Well, to be clear, he said he needed to “immediately and fully come up with a satisfactory explanation” for “inconsistencies" within 24 hours.  So, now Sean is the adjudicator of what's complete and satisfactory in an arbitrary timeframe?  What a cop-out.

I've got this feelin' that all the sturm und drang we're seein' now is intended to try and force Moore out of the race before the election.
But.. if he wins... all the accusations (along with the accusers) may suddenly fade from sight.

If I was advising Mr. Moore, and if he was sworn in and then forced to appear before some kind of committee or tribunal for expulsion, to simply tell the Senators on the panel that before he will answer any charges, that they must subpoena his accusers to give sworn testimony before the panel, and submit any physical evidence (such as that yearbook) to investigative specialists who will testify as to the integrity of such evidence.
And then... walk out of the hearing.

I believe that will shut his accusers up and stop them in their tracks.
We'll see.

I could be wrong, but I believe the only reason charges sufficient for expulsion can be brought against a member of Congress are those pertinent to something that member has done WHILE ALREADY A MEMBER OF CONGRESS (shouting intentional).

If so, no application to Mr. Moore.

I don't know, what if someone gets a license from the government, hair stylist, restaurant, business, accounting, lawyer... and the State board has questions for you, your just saying one could ignore what they are asking you? I don't think so.  Not answering might be seen as something like contempt of court.

IF, I were Moore and your scenario was pulled on me, Come in and play an hour or so game of "When did you stop beating your wife?" . . . 40 years ago, I'd tell them that even as a Congressional Committee Constitutionally granted the power of such an Investigation, they have NO Standing to either subpoena me or investigate me for anything that supposedly happened 40 years Before I Was Elected as a Senator. THEN, I'd walk out on them.

Invite them to hold their damn fool testimonies from my accusers. Sum it up any way they like, and if they uncover any real proof of criminal conduct by me, turn it over to the proper Authority in Alabama, the State AG's or Local DA's Office.
