USA loses to Trinidad and Tobago (That's who T n T is) 2-1, final.
Honduras defeats Mexico, 3-2, final.
Panama, late goal, gives them a win over Costa Rica, 2-1, that was drawn until, very late, around the 90th minute.

Honduras and Panama will leap frog over the USA to eliminate us from the 2018 World Cup finals. Even then,  4th place has to play the intercontinental playoff, against Peru I believe.

Final Standings.
Mexico
Costa Rica
Panama

All advance.

Honduras in the intercontinental playoff.

USA in 5th place and eliminated.

Sad it is but I think sometimes, missing a major tournament might do some good. This time though? I don't really think so.

We have been to every World Cup since 1990, we hosted in 1994. So, this is the first one we have missed since the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, Canada actually made that one.

In 1989, we made the World Cup finals, our first since, wait for it, 1950.

We made the 1990 World Cup Italia, in a match against Trinidad and Tobago.

The ‘Shot Heard ‘Round the World’

It’s rare that the course of history is changed in a moment. But with one swing of Paul Caligiuri's left leg, that’s what happened on a bumpy field one steamy afternoon in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad on Nov. 19, 1989.

It was the final game of a grueling 10-game qualifying march to the 1990 World Cup in Italy, and the Americans had scored just nine goals in the previous nine matches. More than half of those came in one game, a 5-1 victory against Jamaica in the second game of qualifying. The USA was coming off consecutive 0-0 ties, against Guatemala at home and El Salvador on the road, and needed a win to qualify for a World Cup tournament for the first time in 40 years.

The stadium was jammed to the brim – a full six hours before the match – with Trinidadians who were swathed in red and poised for a celebration the likes of which the island had never seen. The match was played on a Sunday and the government had even declared the following Monday a national holiday in preemptive celebration of qualifying for the nation’s first-ever World Cup.

You can't have soccer without the faggotry. It's built into the sport.

Oh, oh, one Panama goal was no good, I'd have to say, definitely no good:

Can the U.S. appeal controversial Panama goal that left them out of World Cup?
Here's what the rules say about whether the U.S. has a case to keep their World Cup hopes alive

So the U.S. men's national team failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup on Tuesday, but there is reason to believe they shouldn't have been eliminated. Panama beat Costa Rica 2-1 to clinch the final spot and send the U.S. crashing out, but the Panamanian's first goal didn't even go in. As to whether it can be appealed remained to be seen.

CBS Sports reached out to U.S. Soccer about whether an appeal could be filed. Press Officer Michael Kammarman said in an email, "As far as I know there is no recourse. Decisions of the referee are final."

It all comes from Gabriel Torres's phantom goal that made it 1-1. You'll see here, the ball never crossed the line:

Panama qualify for their first World Cup with a controversial goal in a 2-1 win over Costa Rica

...

Now, they have reached their first World Cup - but it was not without controversy, because the Gabriel Torres' header that drew Panama level with Costa Rica did not appear to cross the line.

Despite furious complaints from the visitors, the goal stood, and Roman Torres struck in the final few minutes to send Panama through.

It was a neat reversal of fortunes for Panama, who missed out on qualifying for the last World Cup after conceding two goals in stoppage time against the US in 2013.

Controversies happen, what hurts is we just defeated Panama 4-0 last Friday night.

I remember when a hand-ball goal was scored at the expense of Ireland by France. That was the go-ahead goal for France back in 2009 to go to the 2010 World Cup.

Probably close to a zero chance this could be reversed but that looks like a real bad call.

I don't think Mexico intentionally lost to Honduras so the USA misses the World Cup, interestingly, Honduras scored a fascinating goal where it hit the frame, "woodwork", of the net, rebounded, hit the Mexican goalkeeper in the back and ricocheted into the net. You can't plan something like that.

Anyway, I will be watching and at times, cheering for the teams from our own group.  Always subject to change.

Are you sure? I always heard that in soccer it was illegal to handle the balls. Then again
