Great post and the video is excellent!  After seeing this video it makes Maddow's claim that FEMA and other assistance isn't working, purely ridiculous.

Thanks for posting.  Considering two major hurricanes impacted an already debilitated infrastructure, the amount of restoration to Puerto Rico that has already been accomplished is absolutely amazing!

I don't even disagree with Trump necessarily it's just that he has handles these things with no tack and makes himself look like a crybaby in the process.

At One Time, It Was Not All About The President

By Clayton Felts  |  October 9, 2017, 09:36am  |  @claytonfelts

On Sunday evening, President Donald J. Trump once again showed his frailty with the following tweet.
Quote
Donald J. Trump
 ✔  ‎@realDonaldTrump

Nobody could have done what I’ve done for #PuertoRico with so little appreciation. So much work!

6:37 PM - Oct 8, 2017
What bothers me the most about this tweet is despite being the President of the United States, the leader of the Free World, and Commander-in-Chief of the greatest military the world has ever known, President Trump cannot stop being narcissistic. Instead of showcasing the toughness and resolve of the Puerto Rican people, he had to put, “I’ve done.”

The best leadership is doing the right thing, not because of self, but because it helps others. Here is an example.

On Nov. 9, 1989, President George H.W. Bush watched as communism was defeated and the Berlin Wall fell. This was no small feat.

Yes, his statement was narcissistic without a doubt.  However, regardless of how well he does (and IMHO he's done a great job in responding) he's criticized and we are bombarded by fake news.  I believe some of his narcissism on display stems from having to defend himself on a continual basis.

I guess it comes down to this: I'd rather have Trump running around like a five year old shouting "look what I did" rather than an adult Hillary Clinton looking at another American institution rubbing her hands and screeching in a witchly cackle  "look what I've wrecked." You better believe Hillary would be front and center leading the parade announcing her support for "Indigenous People's Day."

I think the fact that Obama sent something like twice the amount of disaster help to Haiti, an area not part of the US, makes Trump look pretty bad. Also the "stretched thin" excuse doesn't fly with me. The U.S military is the most powerful and well funded force the world has ever seen. We were more than capable of doing a better job than we did.

??? Did you watch the video posted?  From my understanding due to the lack of cooperation by some of the mayors in Puerto Rico the military has been called in.  As for being stretched, that I don't doubt.  3 major hurricanes made landfall in the U.S. within weeks of each other.  It's going to take years for Huston, Florida and Puerto Rico to recover and the amount of money that will be needed is astronomical.

The US Military is stretched to the breaking point.   Planes don't have parts to fly, ships aren't repaired, and people are pushed back the breaking point.

A major difference I see between PR and Florida, Texas or the other places in the US that were hit.   Everywhere else you see people out cleaning and putting stuff back together.   In PR we see people sitting around waiting for someone to give them a handout.

I live in Florida and see it first hand.

It should have been a full scale military effort from the get-go. These people are American citizens after all. There are over a million people serving in our military, and we have nearly endless equipment. We sent something like 25-30k to Haiti to help non-Americans but Puerto Rico and the area surrounding it got something like 10k for the first week, and the weeks following didn't see much of an increase in that number. I don't accept the stretched thin argument at all. I think anybody that believes that lacks a proper understanding of just how big and powerful our military really is. If our military is actually that incapable despite its budget then we are wasting our money.

Hey.... remember the good ole days?   When.... our side used to mock, point & laugh at, and diss how many times Obama used the word "I" in his speeches?

FEMA was called in; the situation was evaluated. After the president visited Puerto Rico and determined that many of the problems were due to mayors not cooperating, the military was called in.  I think the mayors are going to find it difficult to balk at our military and place blame on them.  Again, coordination and cooperation is key.  The mayor in San Juan should be ashamed of herself ... let's see now ... what' is she going to find fault with now?  The military is there ... she's been handed everything other than the capability for her herself to roll up her sleeves and help out!

I wonder if anyone has done a comparison of how many times each of them referred to themselves.

I live in Florida and see it first hand.

I reside in SWFL and neighbors have been helping neighbors, tree removal was mostly done by owners of the properties ...FEMA was out immediately distributing food and water to those without power and in need.   Power companies from different states came in and they worked round the clock here for weeks until power was restored. Publix ran generators and brought in food so they could open their doors; supplies were very limited at first and gas was very scarce.  Some stations were damaged. There are still tarps on roofs waiting for repairs, and fallen trees and debris still need to be picked up, etc.  By the time Irma hit this area she was only a Cat. 2 and so water and wind damage wasn't as devastating as it was in Puerto Rico that dealt with Irma and had a direct hit from Maria a Cat. 4.   It's going to take time.  Everyone who can needs to pitch in and for heaven's sake the mayors need to coordinate and cooperate with the effort that is underway.  one needs to remember that Puerto Rico is an island and anyway you cut it, it is more difficult and more time consuming to get supplies to them.  It's not like people from other states can drive over and help out.
