As a young man I lived in Germany for 3 years. I don't know how they make apple pies there but they are the best I ever tasted, much better then American apple pies. And yes Dutch crumples on top rules.

Oh, but I have a marvelous consistency in my love of pies... Any pies... Except lemon meringue and key lime, which I do recognize as pie, and do love - But it's a love i'd cheat on, and mean to.

As to the rest, they are all so wonderful, to include a good chocolate or banana pie.

My tip top favorites though: Dutch Apple/apple/ala-mode/whatever, Mississippi Mud Pie, and Cherry, warm and ala-mode. And cherry would share a near space with Huckleberry in the same fashion.

All that followed closely by Banana Cream and Pecan (PEE-can) - Though I find Pecan to be to rich and I normally can't have too much of it.

Folks hereabouts tend to like hybrid apple pies - Apple-Strawberry, or Apple Rhubarb... All good btw (Strawberry is another dead-on favorite). But nothing, and I mean nothing beats my mother's Dutch Apple - garnered from my grandmother on my father's side (Dutch).

The difference you see between Germany and here is very probably heirloom apples. Apples in our supply chain are awful by comparison. If you want a good pie, find a farmer with an old tart tree in your area and make the pie from that.

And hold on to something at the taste test, because you are likely to swoon. :)

Yes that makes sense, apple pies in Germany were not as sweet as apples pies here. German apple pies were also more dense. Get two pies of similar size and the German one weights much more then the American one. Now I am talking about store bought pies not homemade ones. The only pie I a capable of making is chocolate pudding pie with a store bought crust and canned whip cream on top.

Fools errand. At the end of the day someone like Manchin is wedded to the party and will side with leadership.

Anything they in are doing that you can see is usually a distraction from what they're plotting behind the scenes.

Off topic posts absolutely do not concern me; I have a scroll button and an off button and use both liberally.  But, shutting down a poster with an opinion on the subject, who responded to something someone said about Sen. Cruz, that does concern me. Both are off topic, but only one triggers a warning.

Edwards makes an excellent Key Lime Pie that I am hooked on.  I like it straight from the freezer....still frozen.  Damn.  Now I'm hungry.  And no pie anywhere to be had.

LOL! while you're going anyway, pick me up a crappy frozen chocolate pie -The one with the crappy fake whip cream on the top... they're great to eat frozen. I also like (prefer) crappy fudgesicles the 18 pack for $2.50... Don't like the fancy ones.
