Trump's Closest Allies Warn President It's Time to Stop Tweeting

Donald Trump’s closest friends and allies have begun to publicly warn the president that his Twitter tirades are fueling mayhem in the White House and risk jeopardizing his presidency.

“The tweeting makes everybody crazy,” said Trump’s close friend Tom Barrack, chairman of Colony Northstar, at a Bloomberg conference in New York Tuesday. “There’s just no gain in doing it.”

The campaign by Trump’s closest supporters amounts to a remarkable appeal to a sitting commander-in-chief, a sort of public intervention with the aim of convincing Trump to give up behavior that they believe is doing lasting damage to his presidency.

The definition of a real addiction is when a person continues to do something which is actively hurting them.

Trump is demonstrating that his Twitter habit is a real addiction. It causes him much more grief than good, and yet he cannot stop doing it. It seems that he just can't help it. He is behaving irrationally with this. POTUS having a twitter-fight with mayor of London? This is surreal.


I don't care if he tweets. In fact, in some ways it's a good thing. But he has to run his tweets through his staff before publishing them. Otherwise, he tends to wind up undermining or embarrassing his staff, or himself. But as i pointed out, I'm not sure he is able to control himself.

But you aren't getting the "straight news"...you're getting his slanted view of things.  Often times not completely accurate and 100% biased.

For someone who is supposed to be the leader of the free world...it's also very unbecoming to engage in childish spitball fights 140 characters at a time.

IIRC the only tweets vetted by the staff are the ones on the official POTUS twitter feed.

Most of them are still coming from his personal feed...how...I'm not sure since he's not allowed to have a non government smart phone.

Otherwise you're spot on in your analysis.  He can't stop because he has to feed his addiction.

And what I find amusing too is that if this was Hillary or Obama making these kind of tweets about people they don't like...the people cheering Trump for his twitter rants would be aghast at such behavior from the POTUS.
