No they are idiotic and beneath the office for which he now serves.

But hey like I said there will always be a segment of the people that will defend them because his tweets appeal to the lowest common denominator amongst the population.  He's a bully via twitter and it lets them release their own inner bully and keyboard bravery.

Well, he is an idiot. That's why they are idiotic. He's a reality TV star, not a politician. But the politician's response seems to be "I wish he would quit saying what I am thinking".
We are used to hearing this kind of bombastic stuff from liberal politicians. Obama and Biden did it frequently. But the media didn't call them into account for it.

Yeah, because sending out idiotic texts is far more upsetting than sticking a cigar up an interns vagina, far more damaging than starting a 15+ year never ending war on questionable intelligence and far more costly than taking over a large block of the economy with a Rube Goldberg designed health care system.

People spinning off the rails on this lack perspective.

I'd have a lot more respect for him saying these things (the travel ban issue...the London Mayor...healthcare etc) were he stepping in front of a microphone or a TV camera to say them via a prime time Oval Office address, press conference or at the podium of the U.N.

Hiding behind a twitter account to attack or call out people just makes him look like a common internet troll.

Ok only in your mind does what you're bringing up have anything to do with the topic at hand.

Hiding behind the keyboard on his phone instead of address ALL of America makes him look like an internet troll.

Of course, the difference between Trump and all the other internet trolls is his access to nukes and the IRS.

Long ago, I experienced pucker factor as a reserve force commander for a Nike Hercules battery located a few miles from our motor pool. Whenever they had a nuclear surety inspection, our reserve force was also evaluated.

My job was simple: within a 4 hour period, assemble a 40 man platoon from whoever was at the motor pool that day, make sure they have all of the proper equipment, and prepare them for the mission. Usually, the scenario was an attack on the storage areas where the "special weapons" were maintained. In essence, we were an infantry platoon filled by soldiers whose last infantry training was at boot camp, and they were issued live ammo.

I also selected two Vulcan gunners that I trusted, as 30mm ammo was loaded to the breech. IIRC, I went through six of these. I'm eternally thankful that no accidents, mistakes, injuries, etc. ever resulted.

Sitting here today, I can only imagine the tweets that could have been sent in early June 1944. The opportunities for tipping one's hand are significant by POTUS.

I think a great opportunity is being wasted here.

It's pretty well know he and the media have an adversarial relationship, and it seems that his twits get a lot of attention.  If he could just stick to "The media says XXX, but really YYY" where YYY is a link (or if that's not possible a few keywords that anyone can search on) and where someone else has thoroughly fact checked his response, he could both demonstrate how dishonest the media is, and look like the adult in the room (he'd also need to eliminate any one or two word sentences that end in an exclamation point).

Remember in 2008 when Obama was the young, hip guy because he had a Blackberry and McCain was the out of touch old dude because he didn't use email?  Granted, some of his tweets, like the Comey tapes one aren't helpful, but the MSM and left are being pretty disingenuous about his use of social media.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

Another observation: While the Republican candidate(s...2008-2012) lagged in social media use and skill, they ALSO LOST.

Hence Trump is reversing the social media gap, AND going over the heads of media, to his voters. (think Reagan) and WINNING.

A twofer. (I don't believe things like that just happen; they are the result of some very smart people)

Most of his Tweets seem harmless enough, and some are just plain strange.
However, he is undoing some of the things he has on his agenda by tweeting.
The Travel ban tweets he made, 3 of them illustrate this.
He complained that the DOJ version of the EO (which he signed, by the way) wasn't strong enough, yet the original "stronger" version was rejected by the courts.
He is running the risk of the court not overturning the lower court ruling, based on the tweet that says he is in favor of the stronger version, which was rejected.
It appears that he is not thinking clearly on this issue, with these tweets.

A conspiracy theory:

What if, after his meetings in the Middle East, he agreed not to pursue the Travel Ban, and this is his way of sabotaging it, and still gaining the political capital, by telling us all, he really wants this, but the courts and the DOJ are hindering him?

So, is he doing this on purpose, or is he not thinking it through?

IIRC Ike sent home a 3 Star General and WP classmate and had him reduced to his pre war rank of Colonel for mentioning something about Overlord in a bar about a week before the operation.

Whatever! He IS the president and I like hearing what HE thinks without any filters even if it is only 140 characters at a time.

Instead of Twitter.... I wish there was an actual forum where he could post his actual thoughts about current happenings.... one that allows more than 140 characters at a time.  And where ordinary Americans (like us) could post questions to him..... and where he would actually respond.  In a perfect world..... communication would still be key.  Twitter is just a one-way method that is not working for me or for most Americans.

It's called TV...his Saturday radio address...YouTube.

Read Scott Adams, and Larry Schweikert. Both contribute better understanding of Trump's communication style, than sitting on this site 24/7 which is according to recent  internal polling, anti-Trump by about 2 to 1.

Also read Newt Gingrich, Pat Buchanan, Dennis Prager.....just some of those who are grasping and explaining it these days.

I don't mind that he tweets.  I appreciated that Regan could by pass the media.  I mind that he tweets as Trump the reality TV show host instead of Trump the President of the United States.  He damages his agenda and makes it difficult, if not impossible to get things done that need to be done.  Wisely used his tweets could be an enormous asset.  The "travel ban" tweets, given the court rulings, are likely to be damaging.  They could eliminate his ability to do something that needs to be done.  Trump needs to learn to be President first and Trump the showman second.

Well, he is an idiot. That's why they are idiotic.

Lol. I've said that before. IMO jury is till out on that one.

I'd be very happy if Trump stopped Tweeting. But he won't so this discussion is pointless.

We dug our own graves when Trump was nominated. So far, except for the USSC Justice, his Presidency has been a near total failure. Just a bunch of toothless EO's.

Good job bleep. You got what you wanted.

I personally hope he never stops!  I kind of like getting my news straight from the horses mouth without any filters!
I agree.  Anything that upsets liberals andd NTs is a good thing.  I like that he fights back.
