Wheat is a good.  Insurance is good. but there really is no distinct in concept between even goods and services here.

Insurance is not goods...it's a service.  It's an option.  And it's not one that people should be forced to buy.  The use of the Commerce clause in this instance is a faulty application.

Should you be forced to buy a certain type of soda because the Government tells you that you must?  What about cars?  Clothing?
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

Here lies in honored glory an American soldier, known but to God

THE ESTABLISHMENT IS THE PROBLEM...NOT THE SOLUTION

IMO, we have to compromise at a certain point. If the libs take over, REALLY take over, then they will pass single payer in a New York minute.

Kicking millions off health care would have terrible optics and no way to explain it really.

At some point you have to play chess IMO.

Why is it that the "compromise" ALWAYS leads to more government?

When one holds the exec and both houses, one does not compromise unless one is either a coward or wants to pass liberal policies.

@Bigun

The compromise is always in one direction and it's always conservatives being told they need to accept it, because X is worse.  Nope.  Done with that.

The GOP bill preserves much of the regulatory structure of Obamacare; leaves the bias in favor of employer healthcare largely intact; replaces Obamacare’s subsidies with a different subsidy scheme; and still supports higher spending for Medicaid relative to what was the case before Obamacare.  What's not to like?  /s

There is no functional distinction here between good and service.

Car insurance CAN be bought across states lines. So should health insurance.

I am for NO mandates, as expressed in recent posts.

Insurance is not goods...it's a service.  It's an option.  And it's not one that people should be forced to buy.  The use of the Commerce clause in this instance is a faulty application.

But we are AFTER ObamaCare and need to create a virtuous cycle .  Like Reagan and Coolidge did.

The GOP has just two votes to spare.  This bill will need to be supported by conservatives,  or the "X is worse" scenario will become reality.   And that "X" is single payer,  passed after the idiots, er, "principled" conservatives, are routed at the polls.

Bwhahahahaha - suckers.  I read the text of the bill on a link from Drudge. First of all, if you can get past the byzantine references back to the ACA (of which I have a copy on my laptop), you will discover that this "repeal and replace" is a giant nothingburger that largely leaves the law intact and/or simply changes some of the terms of the law.  You've been had.

You are close to right.  A rose by any other name is still a rose.  "Softer" words were used than in ACA, a penalty is still there although on a different group of people than the ACA.  I read four Republican senators are opposed to various parts of it, and that kills it in the senate, not enough votes to pass it.

Should've voted Cruz.

The GOP was better off in just letting ObamaCare collapse on it's own. Now it is in danger of becoming TrumpCare with some of the same problems.
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

This is absolutely the truth.

No easy answers IMO.

But they promised they would repeal or replace. And Trump wants to replace, not repeal.

The new bill represents a clear improvement on the ACA, and one that's consistent with the President's priorities, but the GOP caucus needs to crack heads and get the nihilist conservatives on board.  The Dems want this to fail - they will reap the rewards of failure; and only unified GOP leadership can get it done.

Hey, I've heard Medishare advertising on the radio. I have a few questions:

1) How much does it cost to ensure a family? https://mychristiancare.org/medi-share/program-options/share-calculator/   My "deductible" or "Annual Household Portion" as they call it is $7500.  I think I pay $252 a month.  You can set your "deductible" to several different levels....$1250.....$2500....$3750....$5000...$7500...$10,000.

2) What does it cover? Please read their website, as I'd hate to put out poor info.

3) What states is it available in?  26 states...not sure which ones...I just know it's available in Texas.

4) Are you satisfied with it so far?  I've had one doctor's visit for upper respiratory issues since signing up with MediShare.  My normal charge for a dr.'s visit is over $100...but using medishare it cost me $40.  I was pleasantly surprised.  Of course I have a LONG ways to go to meet my yearly "deductible".  So far I like it.

Thanks. Your answer will help a lot of readers on this thread.

GOP releases bills to repeal and replace ObamaCare
By Peter Sullivan - 03/06/17 06:04 PM EST

House Republicans on Monday unveiled their long-awaited legislation to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

The two measures dismantle the core aspects of ObamaCare, including its subsidies to help people buy coverage, its expansion of Medicaid, its taxes and its mandates for people to have insurance.

Why would they need to "replace" it?  It's a crap bill.  Let it die and lie.  Just expand Medicaid to include anyone that can't pay and won't have insurance (like it was before) and allow the free market to take care of the rest as things go back to the way they were.  Give incentives (tax breaks) to corporations that provide quality healthcare to their employees, like it was BEFORE the damned Democrats screwed things up.  It ain't rocket science..... except to some, apparently.

I take it to mean they lied as usual and are saying what people want to hear before finding a way to get out of all of it. Just as they do after every election for the past 3.

Opening the door for the 'big excuse' for why they couldn't get rid of Obamacare vs. ObamaCare Lite.
