Chuck Todd: Donald Trump’s Delegitimization of Press ‘Un-American,’ ‘Not a Laughing Matter’
by Alex Griswold | 2:32 pm, February 16th, 2017

In a tweet sent during President Donald Trump‘s Thursday press conference, MSNBC host Chuck Todd indicated he didn’t find the bizarre hour-long back-and-forth with reporters all that humorous.

The Meet the Press host live tweeted the spectacle, at times sending tweets that indicated he didn’t believe the president was telling the truth, and that the rambling press conference would damage his relationship with Congress.

The presser was blame the press, blame the intelligence agencies, I won, I'm great.  Every presser will be the same with other agencies/people thrown in the blame pot, I won, I'm great.

Well, but ... the press is to blame for a lot.  We can't trust them and that is wrong.  We can't sue them because they hide under the second amendment.

But we can laugh at them and Trump had us doing that today.

He did win and although maybe not great, he's much better than the alternative or the dork for the past 8 years.

I'm getting a laugh at the Trump wing media and their desperate attempts to win the favor of the master.

They wag their fingers are the rest of the media as if they were somehow separate when all they really are is a mirror image of the Obama media of a few months ago as they degrade themselves and grovel at Trump's feet.

I'm getting a little tired of you (and others) making snide remarks about those of us who are trying to be fair to Trump.

It's not degrading to give the guy a chance, especially when he's done nothing wrong yet.

What do you want?  Trump gone and Hillary in?  Grow up, please.

Nope.  As bad as Trump may be, the MSM delegitimized itself a long time ago.

You beat me to it!

Just heard an interview with two biographers who wrote books about Trump.  They both agreed, said he "lives in chaos, has all his life, chaos is normal to him."  That is what I have been saying for all these months.  Every day he creates chaos, attacking groups/individual people.  It is chaos every day and will be every day he is president.  When he became a candidate, he began attacking every day and he still is and always will.  Chaos is his name.  I don't see how the country can survive four years of every day chaos.

One of the biographers said an interesting thing.  He said Trump has never been in charge of a large project except one - he said the one big one was the casino and he ran it in the ground.  What he has done, the biographer said, is sell his name to put on buildings and run the operation of the building.  He doesn't own any of the buildings.  They say that is why he won't release a tax return, because he is not worth the many billions he says he is.  Those biographers had no reason to lie.  They were matter of fact, telling what each one learned when they interviewed him and wrote their individual books.  One had not conferred with the other when their books were written.

I'm watching Paul Ryan tell of the house plan schedules for the next 200 days, healthcare, tax plan, etc.  When he speaks of Trump, he looks down instead of looking Hannity in the eye.  If Trump doesn't blow every thing up, perhaps the House and Senate can get some laws passed that will be helpful for the country.

I don't believe everything Trump say's either
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Trump did not de-legitimize the press.  They did it all by themselves.

As was watching election returns on TV I'd switch around to various channels, mostly to compare how each was calling the various states.  What stood out to me the most was the reactions when it became clear Trump would win.  It was entertaining as hell.  Then something very interesting happened.

The "experts" on each station began kicking around the prospect of a president Trump and how he might govern.  What would be his style and his effectiveness of working with Congress?  My thought was, "this is one hell of a time to be asking those questions".

And there it is - bigger than Dallas.  The root of the problem.  Our media gives us thousands upon thousands of hours of campaign coverage but never seems to get around to asking the most important questions until after the fact.

Of course they would counter that they did report that Trump was brash, rude, crude, self-centered and a renegade.  Which is true, they did report all that, but they didn't get around to addressing his management style.  And the same was true in 2008.  Only on election eve did anyone stop to wonder about Obama's world view and his management style.

It doesn't matter if you're watching Fox or the Liberal channels, they all can be summed up by a single thought.  They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

I don't see how the country can survive four years of every day chaos.

I would describe the past 8 years as total chaos, it was just less apparent because the media was totally in the tank for Obama every step of the way.  Plus, much of the chaos was hidden from public view in as much that almost no one in the media reported on many of the behind the scenes actions.  One had to dig around in places off the beaten path to discover the stories.

The Wall Street Journal, for example, would do in depth stories about Alaskan mining companies being screwed out of billions of dollars by the Obama administration.  The Washington Examiner would detail the plight of family farmers losing their land due to faceless bureaucrats at the EPA.  Ever heard of Operation Choke Point?  Don't feel bad, most Americans haven't heard about it either.  Unless you were among the thousands of business owners illegally attacked by Obama's fascist regime it never even made a blip on your radar.

And these are just a couple of examples.  I haven't even gotten around to schools, banks, mortgage companies, student loans, securities advisors, unions, judges, Google, or the Muslim Brotherhood.  It's a little too depressing to go on but given time I could add a few dozen more topics off the top of my head that have been in total chaos.

So in my opinion it's not the chaos that worries me.

------

And what would be happening right this very minute if Bush, Cruz, or another candidate had been elected instead of Trump?  You'd still have protestors marching in the streets, a crack smoking media losing their minds, and predictions of the end of the world as we know it.  In other words chaos.

The bullies of this country are used to forcing the little people to sit down and shut up.  And when I mention the word bullies I'm including the power elites from both parties and all across the spectrum of movers and shakers.  So even a Jeb Bush presidency, a man not exactly outside the power circle, all hell would be breaking loose this very minute.  It would just look a little different.  But even a big government man like Jeb Bush would be informing the bullies that the era of Obama fascism is over, and that wouldn't set well with them at all.

Trump is already a diminished man. The press conference today was amusing in parts, but I think your average joe will simply just tune Trump out over the next few years. This usually happens to Presidents further down the line, 6-7 years.

Eventually the press will too.

Emjay, they hide under the First Amendment, not the Second. Most of them wouldn't know which end of a gun to point, and are terrified of an armed public.

The President left energized ... the media left in tears.  Guess which one gives out first.

Those who despise the media owe it to themselves to bypass it -  go to cspan and watch Trump's presser unfiltered.

That's what I did,  and thought Trump acquitted himself rather well.

Truth? That screed was nothing but suppositions from biographers and irrational thought that Ryan and McConnell would actually grow a spine if it weren't for Trump. Your truths are in reality delusions. The same ones that told you McMuffin would win enough Electoral votes to stop Trump.

Actually the only truth I see being revealed is that losers whine.
