Is California Really Going to Secede?

No.

The fact that we're not going to let those deepwater ports go is just 1 reason.

If they'd hold the secession vote on a county-by-county basis, I'd lobby my senators for their right to leave.  Only the LA-SF coastal counties would vote to go, and we'd be well rid of them.  I'd also extend the county-by-county vote to Oregon and Washington too.
My political philosophy:

1) I'm not bothering anybody.
2) It's none of your business.
3) Leave me alone!

Well since California has about 10% of the country's population and the federal government is in debt to the tune of around $20 trillion California's buy out should start at $2 trillion... And what about social security... Does California get 10% of the armed services?

Hotel California - you can check out but you can never leave.

I have no idea what that means, it just seemed appropriate somehow.

Let them.  California would become more of a haven to illegals and terrorists than they already are.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Just give the business to Oregon and Washington State.

This is good - we should be able to have a secession discussion without invoking the War Between The States.  Could be interesting.

If it were to happen...the red areas of the Central Valley should immediately apply to become the 50th State.

Is California Really Going to Secede?

I don't think so. They have a massive budget deficit. It's hard to succeed under those conditions.

If they do leave could we build a wall on the Nevada, Arizona, and Oregon borders to keep them out?

Really?  Who are they kidding?  Only themselves, apparently.   California would never survive as a separate entity.  They're too dependent upon that government teat.  They're anti-oil drilling.  The only thing they produce is .... well...produce like citrus, and their own idiotic liberal regulations and rules have all but made that industry unprofitable.  It would be really fun to watch them try to survive after secession, though.  I vote YES!  lol

Not a chance.

The federal government would never allow it.

There is also the problem of how much of our food is produced in California. I've long advocated for diversifying a sizable portion of our food production away from California. Pretty much every state in the country can be a major producer of at least a half dozen crops if they must.

If government regulations weren't choking the life out of independent farmers things might be able to move that directions. Right now everybody is owned my ADM, Monsanto, or Simplot; which doesn't help matters.

Their is a reason we are a Union of 50 states.  One way or another each needs the other.  The Federal Government needs all 50 to survive.  Therein is the problem...but for another discussion.

Californication is going nowhere.

True enough.

A century ago cucumbers and cucumber seed were a major export from my little Michigan town. Michigan is still a big root crop producer. In fact the onions I bought today came from WM Bouwkamp & sons in Grant Michigan.

Seems like everything in the produce section now is from Mexico or Chile.

I actively look for locally and American grown products. I bought some Grand Traverse bay perch last week.

Likewise.  Buy off the farm produce of what i can get. Otherwise (hate to push WF) but they have American grown...pricey however.
