I was speaking primarily to the 'tax the money they send back to Mexico' issue.  For those illegals that do have bank accounts and do conduct business here in America other than on a strictly cash-basis.... yes....taxing anything they send to Mexico could probably be accomplished.  Is there a precedent for that, btw?  If so, I have never heard of it.  Still... it's an idea worthy of consideration.

Right.  And seizing money that illegal workers here send back to Mexico would most likely never be done unless it was proven that it was drug money.  So the idea is probably moot.

I think this is a tactical error on Trump's part, but he seems to have the ability to dive in a pile of do-do and come out smelling like roses and cinnabuns.

That said, Mexico paid for it's wall on the southern border, so there is a precedent.

Big picture, Mexico is like that spoiled teenage punk little brother that needs his a** beat. It's time for them to grow up and stop being the dysfunctional little narco state.

Expand the banks mandatory reporting to include all remittances sent abroad. This can be done by EO. Tally up the totals to Mexico. Withhold a proportion of the various aid monies to Mexico - most of which are discretionary. Use that for the wall.

Notice that the most vehement opponents of Trump are the lily-White Mexican elite.   They know their days are numbered, especially if they no longer have the ability to release the pressure by having millions of Mestizos and Indigenous Mexicans fleeing to the US.

Trump visited Mexico and met with their President during the election campaign.  There was a big stink because he claimed certain things that the President of Mexico denied (and vice versa).
