Multiple sources close to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) say he will finally endorse Donald Trump as soon as Friday, according to Politico.

It is unclear wither Cruz plans on just pledging to vote for the GOP presidential nominee or offering more substantial backing.

Actually looks callous endorsing a man who maligned his wife and father and never publicly apologized.

Well, OK. But I strongly suggest he get something in exchange from the unprincipled slanderer first who, after all, threatened to primary him.

I expect Cruz knows better than to act on a promise of support from the lying stooges in the GOPe.

It may be a ploy to stir up more *^&% to see that the vote stays fractured.

When you think about it its win win for Clinton - keep the pot stirred and further antagonize both Cruz and Trump people.

That depends.  If he plans to run in 2020 he may be trying to quell the criticisms of those who feel he is not doing what is best for the party.  If he has no plan to run he should stay as far as he can get from the circus sideshow that is the Donald Trump campaign.

Yeah, but now his 2020 opponents will be able to pull up video of him calling Trump totally amoral, a pathological liar, etc., and the convention speech video, and they'll say he isn't a man who keeps his word or who acts on principle.  He just screwed himself, and for nothing. 

Well, I'm glad I'm not married to him.  If my husband were in his position and I were the one smeared by Trump, Donald would have ended up with teeth on the floor instead of an endorsement.

I would expect him to simply state that a Hillary Court would be a disaster to our nation with its disregard for the Constitution so he will vote for the person with the best chance to prevent that which is Trump who has promised to appoint justices who will be faithful to the Constitution.

He should abide by his pledge to support the nominee.

It's that simple.   He should man up and do it.

He doesn't have to throw boquets at Trump - but he can and should do as Rubio, Walker, Ryan and others and express his view that any Hillary Clinton Presidency is an existential threat to America's survival and an intolerable non-starter.
