In an interview with Bloomberg, Donald Trump was asked what he thought the GOP would look like five years from now.

"Five, 10 years from now — different party," Trump told Bloomberg. "You're going to have a worker's party. A party of people that haven't had a real wage increase in 18 years, that are angry."

Trump told Bloomberg that where he veers from traditional conservative views is driven by common sense and the electoral map; Republicans need to expand their base.

"I think Republicans lose because they have a harder highway in the (battleground) states," Trump told Bloomberg. "If you look at the states, the Democrats have a lot of cushion; the Republicans have no cushion."

The real estate mogul said his views have been shaped by talking to people, hearing the outrage firsthand.

"My views are what everybody else's views are," Trump told Bloomberg. "When I give speeches, sometimes I'll sign autographs and I'll get to talk to people and learn a lot about the party."

Worker's Party?  Hmm seems we already have that in the UniParty.  But be careful what you ask for.  In Brazil, the Worker's Party was thrown out on its keister for public fraud (cooking the books) and other criminal activities.

First, regardless of the validity of your points, Trump has got to show more awareness of the words he uses.  "Worker's party" has distinct historical connotations, and is a terrible choice of words.  "Middle-class" has traditionally been the way the concept is expressed by conservatives because it doesn't put undue emphasis on labor as the most important component of production.

Second, one of the biggest reasons for the lack of wage increase is that other governmental actions have raised the non-wage costs of labor.  Everything from the Americans with Disabilities Act, to the FMLA, to discrimination lawsuits, to a host of regulations from the Department of Labor, etc.., have made the per hour cost of labor go up even if wages themselves are stagnant.  If you want wages to go up, get rid of (or at least dramatically reduce) all those non-wage labor costs.  That's what Trump should be talking about, but he's not.
