Mark Steyn: Hillary Presidency Would Be ‘Death of the Republic,’ ‘Descent Into Banana Republic’
by Alex Griswold | 1:43 pm, May 16th, 2016

Filling in for Rush Limbaugh Monday morning, conservative author and pundit Mark Steyn tore into Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, promising her presidency would destroy American democracy as we know it.

Steyn began by bringing up the Clinton Foundation, which he called a barely-concealed platform for the rich and powerful to buy access under the facade of charity. “It’s corrupt. It’s stingily corrupt, it’s obviously corrupt,” he said.

He bashed conservatives like Max Boot and P.J. O’Rourke who say they would likely vote for Clinton because of concerns over Trump’s foreign policy. “Hillary is the embodiment of corruption and therefore the death of the republic,” he argued.

“To decide someone on the take from Saudi princes, someone’s whose managed to deliver 20% of U.S. uranium into control of the Russian, someone whose husband has been credibly accused of rape and flies around with a known peodphile, and yet Hillary to these guys is who they’re going to be supporting in November,” he said.

“This is insane,” Steyn insisted. “The Hillary Rodham Clinton presidency will be the death of the republic and the complete descent into banana republic status”

Wake up and smell the bananas Mark, we're already there.

Dictatorial decrees about perverts using bathrooms, promises of punishment from both the Marxist Communist and the Nationalist Populist Fascist running for Dictator - unsustainable debt while spending trillions more for imported barbarians and refugees who have no intention of assimilating and the majority of the masses pining for a monarch - we are already a post-Constitutional Fascist mobocracy.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

... if the GOP manages to maintain control of Congress, she may really be limited in terms of what she can accomplish in four years.  Hard to say.

That's the gamble, isn't it?  The question is whether Trump's candidacy will affect down-ticket races, and how.

The Democrats are certainly smart enough to tie all Republicans and their Congressional races to Trump, and it's a reasonable bet that one or both Houses of Congress go over to the Democrats.

Couple that with a Hillary Clinton victory, and we've got real trouble.

Of course, we've got real trouble regardless.  But Clinton is, I think, the more dangerous of the two.

The "choice" we have between Trump and Hillary is which particular cliff to drive off of.

Yes.  So either we acquiesce to that, or we figure out some way of having a different choice that actually matters.... I'm fresh out of ideas, though.

Mark Steyn: Hillary Presidency Would Be ‘Death of the Republic,’ ‘Descent Into Banana Republic’

IMHO, at this point in our history, the "Death of the Republic" can no longer be avoided. The only question left is which kind of state follows the republic, and how we get there: a national socialist dictatorship, an international socialist democracy (or dictatorship), a dissolution along regional lines, a violent civil war, some combination of the above, or something else as yet unforeseen. IMHO, choosing between the Democrat candidate or the Republican candidate will have much less impact on where we end up than the supporters of either party seem to think.
Let it burn.

We could end up in a Venezuela-like state... probably will, in fact.  After that, who knows?

What we're seeing today in Venezuela is just the inevitable outcome of any international socialist dictatorship. They just got there more quickly than the Soviet Union did, because they're a smaller country with fewer natural resources.

Let me guess. Yeshua told you this, and communicated it through your aluminum foil hat. Right?

I can't stand Hillary and I understand people who dislike Trump...but if you think they are equivalent to Marxist Communists and Fascists your knowledge of history, your common sense, and yes...your sanity...are all in serious question. Try reading The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich if you'd like to see what such things actually look like when they rise...or any number of other works. Even the most amateur historian can look at your comments and dismiss them as childish hyperbole at best, genuine...almost comical...paranoia at worst.

You keep telling yourself that.

You truly are no different than the condescending Godless Marxists bashing Believers all over the net to score what you think are political points.

You sound just like 'em.

So I'll treat you just like 'em.

And yet it is fascism nevertheless -- if only a "soft" fascism for now.

The one observation I have about this mess is that the DEMS don't seem to be up in arms about Hillary becoming president as much as the GOP is up in arms about Trump becoming president.  To me it verifies that Trump has merely been in this to further divide and destroy the GOP. I think more and more people in the GOP realize we are royally screwed. Our party has been hijacked. It seems that the primaries have taken the focus off of what is happening behind the scenes.  Prior to the primaries the focus and concern was the rise of ISIS and reports of their beheadings and brutality of Christians, and reports of our government plan to allow hundreds of thousands of Syrian/Muslim refugees into this country.  Huge focus was also on the IRAN Nuke deal, IRS, and NSA.   I don't watch  lot of TV, however, every major website front page has been nothing but Trump.  ISIS hasn't gone away, the plan for the UN to open a hub in Washington hasn't gone away, the crisis in the Middle East hasn't gone away, our lousy economy hasn't improved ... yet millions are drawn to some orange raging idiot talking about the size of his hands all the while claiming he's Going to Make America Great Again!  Really.  Trust Me.

Steyn's whole three hours  amounted to "Hillary will be a horrible president." Gee thanks Mark, I guess nobody ever suspected that.
This was a very disappointing (but expected) defense of Trump by attacking Clinton. Nothing wrong with that (attacking Clinton), but Steyn went out of his way to not mention any of Trump's disqualifying words and actions over the course of his life.
Sorry, as bad as Hillary would be, I doubt it will be the end.
What is further disappointing about Steyn's implicit defense of Trump is that his nomination means the end of (1) a Republican Party with a conservative message and (2) Pubbies forever barred from accusing Dem candidates of being unworthy because of bad morals.  Among many other sins, Trump has bragged about screwing married women.
And he wants a stricter interpretation of 1st amendment rights in favor of people like him. Even Steyn mentioned a squabble between himself and Trump over the 1st amendment.
But that's alright with Steyn..... because Hillary.  Apparently, the threat of a Hillary presidency absolves Trump of all his past anti-conservative/immoral actions. Nice job Mark....not.

Well ever since the influx of FR refugees nearly all you see here is Trump is horrible. Very disappointing, but not unexpected.

Of course....   The banned were either not so pro-Trump or Cruz supporters...or I guess even the few who chose to criticize even in the slightest...Mr. Trump.  I have a lot of problems with Mr. Trump, I'm not saying that I won't eventually vote for the man.  But just not quite there yet.

Like the old saying goes....easier to catch flies with honey, not vinegar.  You might take that to heart.

There are legitimate criticisms of Trump. He's far from being unblemished. However, the outrageous allegations about pedophilia, misogyny and messiah/dictator are beyond the pale.

FR even ran off people who said they were voting Trump because they were not worshipful enough.

That is simply insane

Now you sound like those that repeated the mantra that the Dems were scared of Palin.  They weren't scared.  They were laughing their fannies off.

It's the same with Trump.  They voted in droves in our primaries to ensure we got Trump because they knew he was the easiest to best.

A-Lert, I like you hon, but you need to wake up just a bit and realize what is going on around you.  Making such silly statements removes all credibility from what you have to say.  I know you like to emulate Trump, but repeatedly stating the Dems are scared of Trump does not make it a fact.

Sure, why else would the dims blow $20 million on Trump attack ads? Do you believe The Hill just made up the story? Trump will eviscerate Hillary and the dims know it.

No he won't.

The Mao Pantsuit will be crowned and it won't even be close. The Oligarchy has gone to great pains to create this illusion for all of you.

And like good puppets you have already blamed those of us Conservatives who will not vote for your prince for the inevitable outcome.

Because despite the appearance crafted for consumption, the fact remains that Trump's negatives among Americans is higher than Hildabeast's.

So the Ruling Class has made lemonade out of the lemon they thought they had handed to them.

And the rage and vengeance sought will be principled Conservatives that the Oligarchy has already primed you all to set upon.

Your wrapped a little tight. If this keeps up there's going to be a shortage of Reynold's Wrap. Hillary will lose in a landslide. You'll be disappointed and go into mourning, but you'll snap out of it when President Trump starts the process of resurrecting the US to greatness.

Hillary plans to spend 2 billion bucks on this election.  She would have spent the 20 million if she was running against anybody.  Do you think Hillary is going to sit on her laurels like Trump and not campaign to win and win big?  She would have spent it if Snoop Dog had won the Republican Primary.

Well at least now were getting someplace. But again, if Hillary is such a shoe-in, why waste the money on unneeded attack ads? There is only one rational answer.
