Cruz Plans to Run For Re-election In 2018
« on: May 11, 2016, 08:11:01 pm »
There you have it.  So far it appears that Cruz doesn't have plans for running again for president as speculated by the media. The last line of the article warms my heart ... Cruz was warmly received and met with a round of applause.  Very well earned Mr. Cruz!

Ted Cruz plans to run for re-election in 2018

Sen. Ted Cruz said Tuesday that he plans to run for re-election in Texas, putting to rest speculation that he may step aside to prepare for another run at the White House in 2020.

"Yes," Cruz told CNN when asked if he would run again. He didn't elaborate on his thinking.

Cruz's comments come as he returns to Capitol Hill this week for the first time since dropping his presidential bid.
He has yet to endorse Donald Trump, stoking speculation that he is angling for another run in four years.
Many strategists believe Cruz would be better served to skip a Senate re-election campaign in 2018 and instead focus on his presidential ambitions. While Cruz may ultimately decide not to run for re-election, his comments are clearly aimed at tamping down speculation that he will quit the Senate.
Later Wednesday, Cruz sat down for lunch with Senate Republicans, according to several senators who were at the meeting. Utah Sen. Mike Lee, who endorsed Cruz for president, made some introductory remarks, and Cruz himself addressed the group. The senators who were present said Cruz -- who often railed against what he said was the "Washington cartel" during his presidential campaign -- was warmly received and received a round of applause.

I thought that I would give this article a *bump* for those who are promoting rumors that Cruz is planning on jumping back into the race.  He is NOT period.

Cruz gave it 110% and should be commended for running a great campaign. He got of out of the race because he saw No clear path to victory.  He LOST in IN and didn't see any chance of winning NE.  He has announced he plans to run for re-election of the SENATE.

Trump IS the presumptive nominee. He is the only one running.  If he doesn't make or exceed the 1237 the something is terribly wrong.

The issues were why there was a possibility he could win Nebraska and why the vote was not a blowout for Trump like WV was. Nebraska is a Caucus State, not a regular primary State. Cruz's people and Pacs  were still funded until mid month. Cruz/$neverTrump was still looking to take delegates from Trump if for no other reason then to have more influence at the convention. Cruz/$neverTrump was strongest in Caucus States so even with Cruz suspending, there was an active effort to deny Trump the win there in Nebraska. It failed badly, but it did have some effect.

I get it.  There is NO denying that Cruz suspended his campaign.  There is NO denying that he commented that he saw no path to victory.  He commented that his chances of  winning NE were highly unlikely and that it was unlikely that he would jump back into the race; if he saw a clear path he would certainly do so, but the chances of that happening were highly unlikely. The attention surrounding the caucus is nothing more than hype.  If Cruz thought it was going to amount to anything he wouldn't have suspended his campaign when he did.  There is no denying Trump anything.  He is the only person left in the race.  Get it?

I will happily contribute to his campaign. We need more like him!
