Put it all into my signature.  I won't vote for Donald Trump.  Period.  End of discussion.  I'm joining the 2/3 of the general electorate who view Trump negatively.  And I will not compromise my principles to the degree necessary for me to get to the point of voting for Trump.

A candidate's electability should be something taken into account in deciding whether to nominate that candidate.  If the people who support Trump will not do so, then so be it.  However, he is not electable, he will never be elected, and the people who nominate him in the face of that fact are the ones who will be responsible for president Clinton, not those of us who have already given you fair warning that we will not vote for Trump.  If you really want a republican president in November, then you had better take the electability of the candidates seriously, and you had better reflect carefully on the fact that Trump is not electable.  If you do not and you proceed to nominate him in the face of that fact, then you are the ones responsible for our loss in the Fall, not I.
Ding Ding We have a winner. The last figure I was said that 65% of the electorate was against Trump and and only 55% were agaisnt sHrillary. He is not a Conservative and the majority don't like him. What more do people need to see.

According to another poster here, you've said you'll voter for Hillary if Trump is the nominee.

Which makes Bigun's posts about Trump supporting electing Hillary all the more ridiculous.

Why should I support Trump?   Clinton and Trump are both liberals,  so why should I vote for the latter just because of an "R" after his name, earned through gutter politics and threats of violence?   Clinton's corrupt,  but Trump's as much an enabler of cronyism as she is - hell,  he's given bucks to her Foundation and spread his mobbed-up lucre around like a pro.

Trump vs. Clinton is a question of the lesser of two evils - and for me,  Trump's primary disqualification is his reactionary temperament, fueled by his monstrous ego.   He's a classic megalomaniac, convinced of his latent superiority and greatness, who keeps little counsel other than his own.   In short, he's a dangerous man with fascist tendencies.  I won't be a good German.

I have no desire, of course, to vote for Hillary Clinton.  She brings with her a generation or more of liberal hegemony,  and voting for her would run directly counter to my self interest.   But I have every desire to see Trump and Trumpism defeated, and if voting for Clinton is the vehicle for doing so,  I will hold my nose and do what I must do as a citizen.   I won't stay home, I won't spit the bit,  I won't vote for a vanity candidate if my vote is needed to stop Trump.   By doing so, I know the stakes - I will have cast myself adrift from the party I have supported for forty years.   But, to paraphrase Reagan,  a party that would endorse a con-man like Trump is a party that will have left me.

You already have, Hillary, the sexual predator enabler.

My vote this fall will be to oppose evil.   I will do what I must do.  You've already made clear you'll not only embrace the dark side, you'll work to will it.

DC, I know that you are an avid Trump supporter and you have told me in the past as to why, but my question to you is, why do you believe or feel that Trump will do what he claims he will do?  Obviously I'm missing the confidence you have in him.

Because he has some old movie script running in his head.  The rest of us live in the REAL world!

I don't know that Trump will do as he promises.

But I certainly DO know Hillary Clinton.

Thank you for your honest answer. I'm not so sure that Trump would be any better on the 2nd amendment as he has stated that he is for the assault weapons ban and a longer waiting period in purchasing guns.  He does have a NY carry permit, so, I am not sure which way he'd be on the 2nd amendment.  As for the justices ... there isn't anything to convince me he'd lean conservatively...I am only basing this on his past liberal stances and voting DEM.

Okay...fair enough.

So you're essentially saying that you'd rather help Hillary Clinton in her quest for the Oval Office by:

1) refusing to vote for Donald Trump, the Nominee.

or...

2) sitting out the election entirely...thinking it absolves 'you' of any harm done to the Constitution and the country.

You're absolutely right LB, we don't know what Trump will do.  But I can't find any possible flaw in DC's argument that we absolutely do know what Hillary would do with the 2d Amendment, immigration, and most importantly the 1-3 Supreme Court justices as well as the 80+ other open federal court seats.  This is one time when I simply can't go along with " better the devil you know than the devil you don't know".
It's the Supreme Court nominations!

DC,  I doubt anyone here wants to help Clinton gain (regain?) the Presidency.  If Clinton's the next President, then the blame's on folks like you,  who know damn well how Trump is perceived by most Americans,  yet persist in willing the nomination of a sure loser.

Some of will stay home, some of us will vote for a third party, and some of us will affirmatively vote to defeat Trumpism,  even at the cost of our own self-interest.   But the motivation will be similar -  the principles of the GOP and conservatism will have been betrayed and hijacked by folks like you who insist that we drink Trump's poisonous Kool-Aid.

Suicide isn't painless, and I for one would prefer to avoid it.

And here is where I respectfully disagree.  Trump's just too unstable, megalomaniacal and dangerous.   I'll take the simple corruption and venality of Clinton over the existential danger of Trump.

If they don't care enough to vote for Hillary's opponent, then they don't care about the future of the country. They must be content with the status quo.
