“Private detectives are digging into at least five affairs Ted Cruz supposedly had,” claimed a Washington insider.

“The leaked details are an attempt to destroy what’s left of his White House campaign!”

The ENQUIRER reports that Cruz’s claimed mistresses include a foxy political consultant and a high-placed D.C. attorney!

You may need to be educated a bit more on Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals.  Attack your enemy with all sorts of allegations, even if they are not true. Don't worry about backing them up, because if you hit them fast and furious with new ones, they will not have time to defend themselves against yesterday's lies, when they have new ones hitting them today.

In all fairness, they've been right sometimes: Rush Limbaugh's drug problem, John Edwards's affairs, etc. That being said, the Enquirer has gone all-in for Trump this election cycle and, with that in mind, anything they report in this cycle should be taken with a heavy grain of salt.

Note that the story is about private investigators investigating rumors of it, not actual proof—just allegations. It's a flimsy case.
