Many of them are used to doing the finger on the touch screen thing, that amounts to little more than "his mark".
For all the decades of education, we're back to putting the equivalent of an 'X' on documents. Some print. Legible signatures are rare.

My "signature" is an illegible scrawl.  Imagine my surprise when I ran it through an OCR and it only got one letter incorrect!
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16

It has always been a matter of whether the mark - be it an 'X' or a string of recognizable letters - is sufficiently distinct to identify the maker.  Merely spelling out one's name is no guarantee that the person doing the spelling is, in fact, the person to whom that name belongs - recognition of the pen strokes and the style of writing is what matters.

Monday, Fox News broke a story about a CDC Truck that crashed, and some experimental monkeys had escaped. It was fishy as hell.

Is there a thread on that here?  Because I sure haven't heard any followups.  I did find this clip.

And as soon as that gets going, the Chinese will invade Taiwan.

It's a win-win for them, as their two prominent enemies duke it out and they get the plum.

and it only cost them Thirty Million dollars (and whatever in bearer bonds they handed over).

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I thought the story was weird as well, @catfish1957 . The last thing I heard was that the monkeys were destroyed.
