Donald Trump was the resounding winner of Thursday night's Republican presidential debate in Houston, according to two online surveys.

According to a Drudge Report survey that has attracted more than 120,000 votes, 63.8 percent said Trump won the debate, followed Ted Cruz, at 17.9 percent, Marco Rubio, at 12.8 percent, John Kasich, at 3.6 percent, and Ben Carson, at 2 percent.

A Time magazine online poll of 17,000 people found the billionaire businessman taking 71 percent, followed by Rubio, at 18 percent, Kasich, at 6 percent, Cruz, at 4 percent, and Carson, at 2 percent.

Trump has mopped up in most of the post-debate online polling this cycle.

The surveys aren’t scientific but can gauge online enthusiasm for the candidates.

I don't know how many times this has to be posted, but but online polls are meaningless.

Ron Paul won every debate poll eight years ago because his fan bois and girls would flood the polls.  Same thing happens with Trumpkins.

In a very macro way, the online polls are correct. He has led those polls, and has won three out of four primaries.

The magnitude of the lead maybe off, but the direction of the polling has been accurate.

Laughing at the downfall of conservatism. Nice.

The problem with conservatism is that it hasn't rose to have a downfall.  To fall, you actually had to rise up.  Look at your government.  Look at its trajectory since World War 2.  Conservatism has never succeeded, never been the ruling philosophy of government since FDR.  You had Reagan, the one conservative president (if you don't count Kennedy). He managed to moderate temporarily the trajectory towards today's soft socialism - for a brief time.  But that has been over for more than 30 years.  Conservatism exists only in a relatively few people's minds. It is in practice nowhere.  It is now, today, the emptiest of empty slogans. A near religious mantra to be uttered at election time like a visit to the confessional.

Conservatism cannot fall.  It never rose in the first case. It is an empty platitude.

Laughing at you thinking McCain/Rubio/Romney are conservatives.  Trump is to the right of all three on domestic national security and illegal immigration.

Aside from a genteel debating society, over petit fours and tea, how has conservatism governed? You know, since the GOP controls [euphemistically speaking] both Houses of Congress the last couple of years? What have they accomplished? Nada. Zilch. And you look at the state houses with Conservative governors, and conservative legislatures. Trump either won, or is polling to win those states. So why not laugh? the only thing missing is Ryan, McConnell and another bunch of those hooples falling out of a clown car.

People can say that online polls are not scientific, but the article does say that they are good for judging "enthusiasm" for a candidate.  Obviously, the "enthusiasm" is running heavily for Donald Trump - just like those old polls that showed "enthusiasm" for Ron Paul.

The difference between those two is that Ron Paul wasn't winning primaries like Trump is.  Ron Paul's "enthusiasm" was a mile wide and an inch deep.  Donald Trump's "enthusiasm" appears to be a mile wide and a mile deep.

If we're going to poo-poo online polls because they are not a scientific measurement - only showing "enthusiasm" levels....what does that say for the "enthusiasm" levels for the other candidates?  Not much, from the looks of it.

I've only watched the first half of the debate so far - but from what I've watched - Donald Trump is the resounding winner!  I love the graphic of the little dog nipping at someone's heels - except what I've seen so far - there were TWO little dogs nipping at Trump's heels!   :silly:

Also, as noted above - Trump leads in most states in scientific polls as well.   :pondering:

We told you Trump would win - bigly!

Nobody knows politicians better than I do. They're all talk. They're no action. Nothing gets done. I've watched them for years. Take a look at what's happening to our country. All of the things that I've been talking about — whether it's trade, whether it's building up our depleted military, whether it's taking care of our vets, whether it's getting rid of Common Core (which is a disaster), or knocking out Obamacare and coming up with something so much better — I will get it done. Politicians will never, ever get it done. And we will make America great again. Thank you.

Happy can keep pushing these on-line polls on us, but any Trump supporter with an ounce of sincerity will admit here on this thread that on-line polls are bogus, and also admit Trump did not only not win the debate, he did quite poorly.

Now will it matter that he lost the debate as far as his poll numbers? Probably not - but don't push BS polls on us, because we ain't buying it.

Are you buying voters flocking to outsiders Trump/Cruz/Carson as they kick the crap out of whichever milquetoast establishment candidate the GOPe is trying to prop up today?

Trump basically kept his cool last night, Cruz sadly didn't rise to the occasion, and Rubio's voice got higher-pitched the more emotional he got in his canned "criticisms" of Trump.  He came across as a whiny child wanting to be better than daddy.

Trump came out unscathed and likely locks up the nomination next Tuesday.  My guy Cruz is done, and if he endorses Rubio he's done as far as I'm concerned as a serious presidential candidate.

And to the left of all three on eminent domain, abortion, entitlements, deficits, trade, spending, and using the brute force of the government against businesses.
