Trump's biggest enemy: Google

Not the company but the ability to quickly look back at a history of positions and statements.

Poor Donald Trump. He really, really wants to leave behind his brash, vulgar, sexist and bigoted comments and be seen as presidential.

Trump told reporters as much last week, noting how easily he can pivot to be more presidential. "I'm very capable of changing to anything I want to change to," he said. He also vowed to "never" use "foul language" again on the campaign trail.

What has brought on this sudden change of heart?

....Here's the thing, though: Trump could suddenly start acting like Prince Charming complete with white horse, but there's one big problem standing in the way of this chameleon transformation -- Google. Of course, YouTube and Twitter don't help him too much either, but Google is truly Trump's kryptonite. ....

Of course, the big question is whether Trump's history of bigoted, sexist and other inflammatory comments matter to voters? That's unclear. But what's certain is that while memories may fade, Google always remembers. And that's really not good for Trump.

His bigoted and sexist comments won't matter to those voters who are bigoted and sexist.   Hence the remarkable thing about his support - it's large, but it doesn't move.   It's at about a third and holding.    Looks like he's just about tapped out the pool of bigoted, sexist voters.

Look, I'm no friend of The Don (as you likely know from being here for a while), but not everyone who supports him is a bigot or sexist, and I think it is unfair to so accuse them.

Trump's supporters may share other qualities in common, such as righteous anger at the government and a lack of faith in the current party structure to solve our national problems, but they are certainly not defined by the narrow animus of bigotry.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn
