I haven't been in Texas for many, many years, so my memory of y'all's brews is hazy, at best. Back east, we stick to this:

Quote
First, did I say or suggest that we should be governed as a theocracy???

No,but you and almost every other Christian out there seem to ALWAYS add the adjective "Christian" to the word "Conservative" and turn it into a phrase that clearly implies you can't be a conservative unless you are a Christian.

Quote
Being a Reagan Conservative means we are governed by biblical faith and creeds that establish the moral underpinnings of a civil society whereby liberty can exist; governed by the Declaration and the Constitution which keeps strict limits on the federal beast and upholds a distinct American culture and its values; and a defense policy that protects us against those in the world that wants a piece of us.

HorseHillary! It may mean that to you,but it damn sure doesn't mean that to everyone.

Quote
If course I do.  Samuel Adams himself said that as the reformation got rid of popery in religion and enabled men to be self-governed and led by God without interference from the institutions of men, so too did he advocate getting rid of the popery in politics - in terms of ridding the notion of monarchy and sole rulers from the minds of men.

He was right about that because the Catholic Church of the time may have been the model Communism used as a base. In fact, some Catholic sects today are little more than offshoots of the communist party. The whole damn "Liberation Theology" bunch. They are evil and draw a lot of attention, but I doubt they speak or act for the typical Catholic of today, though.

While Protestantism is MUCH less dictatorial in most cases than Catholicism,it's still no friend of free thought. You toe the line or you are bounced, and without Freedom of Expression you have no Constitution to be conservative about.

As a nation and people, we WERE governed by the moral and religious codes of the faith that established the civil society.

Quote
You cannot have the kind of liberty intended for us in terms of a limited government with opportunity for all to pursue happiness without it.

Says who? Is this one more way to express the "Freedom through obedience and work!" ethnic of 30's Germany?

Quote
Because if that were possible, George Bushs' totally misguided idea to bring Constitutional liberty to Iraq would have succeeded.

Irrelevant. His intention was purely to protect his Saudi masters and keep the gold rolling in.

Quote
But it didn't and won't. It doesn't work anywhere else but here.  And the reason for that is because of the kind of religious heritage and reverence we as a people once had for that which is now seen as an evil and considered totally unnecessary for freedom to exist.

It works here in SPITE of religion, not because of it. That is why we have separation of Church (religion) and state here.

Quote
So what we see in terms of our decline and divisions are a direct result of the distance we have put between ourselves and the foundational principles that forged us.  INCLUDING the Christian faith that you hold so much disdain for, that is not entirely unwarranted.

And  you were doing soooo good. Right up to the point where you included the Christian (and every other faith,I might add) as a major factor in how and why we live free. Organized religion,EVERY organized religion is about enslaving it's followers and gaining power.

Where is it in respect to the RiverWalk and the Alamo Dome?

Away from the dome and the river walk...more towards the airport.

In that I only disagree that Trump will be allowed to skate. The liberals will fight any and all measures or policies, and failing that, the man himself, in a distraction to ensure as many of their policies remain in place as possible.

You wait. It won't be long before the alleged "conservatives" here and on other boards join forces with the Clintonites to throw up roadblocks for everything that Trump tries to do,regardless of what it is.

Their biggest fear is their beloved RINO's will be out of power forever. They are NOT conservatives, they are Republicans.

At least so far, looks like Trump is delivering, so I'm cautiously optimistic that he'll nail his SCOTUS picks.

@dfwgator  @jmyrlefuller

I am outright confident he is going to nominate conservatives. It's  his nature to fight back. The more the left, including our alleged pals in the alleged Republican Party rant and rave about how wrong he is,the more he is going to dig his heels in and refuse to compromise.  He MAY at some time admit he made a mistake about something, but it damn sure won't be because someone else publicly claimed he did and wanted to rub his nose in it.

This is the one true thing you can say about him that has been true his whole life.

I like the fact that at least so far, Trump is dancing with the ones that brought him, and not trying to reach out to the other side.

I can't believe there has been 421 replies to a thread about a bunch of moronic women protesting Trump.  I'm so tired of hearing about pu$$ygate that I could scream.  No person in her right mind was offended by what he said.  He spoke the damned truth.  There are women that will sell themselves, throw themselves at men simply because the man has money and power.  This speaks more of worthless women to me than men.  Until women value themselves, they will always be the butt end of a joke and deservedly so.

I have an acquaintance, a close friend's wife, that claims that "money and power is what turns her on."  Her husband has both, but not enough.  Never enough.  This type of woman sickens me.  She needs to get off her ass and make her on money and power instead of lusting after every man that has it and carping at those close to her that do not.

I've said my piece on this sordid subject.  To those that don't like it, too bad.  I find it disgusting that women are crying about Trump.  Disgusting.

She may be cute, but she's had a run-in with a tattoo man.

@Cyber Liberty

Will somebodie PLEASE splain to me why it is still "cool and trendy" for teen girls to get tattoos, when you can't go to the grocery store anymore without seeing some 250 lb white-haired granny with tattoos running up her neck and legs?

Interesting, your giving me advice based on your errant imagination and false assumptions.   Unfortunately, I don't take advice from willfully ignorant people.

As for my "motivations".......... I am an across the board conservative (including social and moral conservatism), who despises the left, and an honest person who speaks my mind.  I value integrity and point it out when it's not there.

I will continue to do so even if people who choose not to read the actual words call it "thumping the tub" and insinuate that I am somehow a leftist because I don't agree with liberalism.

Enough of this pretzel talk.  When you have something legitimate to contribute, give me a buzz.....

 :seeya:

So, what is this continual harping on Trump's past, based on a FALSE, ROTE criticism made by the Left...what's that supposed to accomplish?

Does it steer legislation?  Does it make Trump listen to his more conservative insiders?  Does it prevent the cronies, who ARE in there, from getting to the trough?

NO.  It's just noise and chaos.

The LEFT wants noise and chaos.  They want a crisis, so they can ram through more big-government tyranny.

Do you want to help them?

You don't like Trump.  That's fine; I don't like him either.

The choice is to work with him, accept that he's there...or else work with the nihilist crypto-Marxist Left.

Do you think the Dowager Empress would be better?    Do you want Timmy Sandinista Kaine as President in four years?

DO YOU THINK THAT WOULD BE BETTER?

Wow… we go from beer and levity to the deep core of what makes us different than Statists.

Oh well.  We are sharpening iron here after all.

Of course not.  That is why the GOP was happy to accommodate Obama's agenda and fund it without opposition.  They understand more than half the population are die-hard Liberal Leftists and Socialists that want government to be god.

As a nation and people, we WERE governed by the moral and religious codes of the faith that established the civil society.

And why today - liberty and freedom as intended for us is a growing impossibility.  As nations become more corrupt and vicious (because they have no need nor use for religion or God) they have more need to be controlled by a police state just to keep a semblance of order.

Says many of the Founders.

And  you were doing soooo good. Right up to the point where you included the Christian (and every other faith,I might add) as a major factor in how and why we live free. Organized religion,EVERY organized religion is about enslaving it's followers and gaining power.

Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. I once asked a young woman at a local stop and rob what the Chinese characters running up her neck stood for. Not really thinking about anything at the time, just bored and distracted. Her answer was "Cheryl,my name.",and smiled. I was so shocked at this astounding public display of ignorance and stupidity,I told her without thinking "Do you REALLY think some bearded biker trash with a 8th grade education working in a tattoo shop even knows how to accurately ink Chinese characters, never mind spell a name that doesn't exist in the Chinese alphabet? How do you know it doesn't mean something like "Stupid, fat, white cow",and here you have it plastered all up and down your neck for the whole damn world to see?"

She got pissed, just like it was my fault she was so stupid she got strange lettering in a language she can't read inked forever on her neck. Somehow it was MY fault.

BTW,in the spirit of full disclosure,I have ONE tattoo. It's on a bicep, and it has US Army jump wings and the word "US Paratrooper"above and below the wings. In my defense,I was 17 and had just graduated from jump school, something not easily accomplished back then before AA,time-outs,and touchy-feely PC nonsense. We started out with a class of 425 students, and graduated 187 3 weeks later.

I did briefly consider shaving my head and having a big red arrow and the words "This End Up!" tattooed at the bottom of the arrow when I was based on Okinawa, but let myself be talked out of it by friends. I was doing a bit of drinking at the time, and getting into a lot of bar fights,so I thought it would be pretty funny.

Had a E-7 in my company that had a dotted line tattooed all around his neck, with the words "cut on the dotted line" tattooed above it. Even I thought that was a little weird.

Pearl was a proud purveyor of generic beer, through several outlets.

Depending on the wholesaler who put together a generic-beer supply in his catalogue, the actual brewer was mentioned on the label...in small print.

It opened my eyes, in Ohio, to find that was brewed by Pearl.

Pearl also did some batch-orders of Billy Beer...along with Utica Club, in central New York.
