Iran strikes water systems -- media strikes Trump

It’s just too much to ask for the media to get its priorities straight during an emergency.

J.R. Dunn | August 3, 2026

The news that Iranian government hackers have penetrated water systems around the country gives us a clear indication of what the American Left – politicians, bureaucracy, and media – think about national security: they just don’t care.

The attacks occurred beginning in the middle of last week after the FBI and EPA warned of the possibility of bad actors based in Iran striking targets in the U.S.

Cyberattacks targeting municipal water systems have been reported in at least seven states this week, prompting the FBI and the Environmental Protection Agency to warn utilities nationwide that hackers might attempt to disrupt critical water infrastructure.

Most of the states responded in good time. The exception was -- no real surprise here -- Minnesota, which had over 30 municipalities seriously hit. Evidently, the hackers succeeded in changing IP addresses and passwords. Preventing remedial action. According to officials in neighboring Wisconsin, numerous water systems in Minnesota suffered loss of pressure. Minnesota denies this, despite the fact that a number of towns issued boil water notices, suggesting that’s exactly what happened.

A development such as this demands an immediate response – to correct the systems already affected and to guarantee that others are adequately protected, and above all to assure that possibly vulnerable systems such as power and communications. Instead, we’ve seen a concerted effort to turn it into a club to beat Donald Trump with.

Tim Walz, Minnesota’s boy governor, set things off by accusing Trump of instigating the attacks by making war on Iran. Trump dismissed this, instead laying the blame on Walz’s own incompetence, not an inconceivable state of affairs. The media response was to spotlight the conflict in hopes of embarrassing Trump. This appears to have suffered the fate of all such recent attempts. It’s really starting to look as if Trump has become immune to this kind of thing after years of sheer repetition.

It’s just too much to ask for the media to get its priorities straight during an emergency – not when it’s a midterm year and Trump is in office.

...hmmm didn't Trump comment that he believed it wasn't the Iranians that struck MN and other states water systems??

In as much as I believe Trump was right to go into Iran and stop them from proliferating nuclear arms, at the end of the day he and his administration are responsible for neglecting to protect this from this happening within our country.

He started a war that IMHO he very much miscalculated the outcome.....I hope that I am absolutely wrong.
