Well, it is a difficult song to sing. And Reeves is 85 so her voice ain't what it once was.

I listened to it.  It was absolutely horrendous.  She was off key.  Yes it is a difficult song to sing and she is aged, but then perhaps they should have found someone else to sing it.

What about the game?  Over-hand pitching?  Hardball?

That would have been the logical answer. Making an assumption, they probably wanted a singer with a "name". Even though most younger people won't remember her.

I can't help but wonder if she knew how bad she sounded.

Wasn't it Roseanne Barr who also destroyed the National Anthem?

Roseanne did on purpose and mockery.  I could be wrong, but I don't think Reeves did.

It was certainly mockery, Rosanne grabbed her crotch after "singing" it.  It was insulting.

I think that was a satire of baseball players adjusting their cup and spitting when they cane up to bat.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Aunt Virginia played the piano one last time at Decoration where my mother is buried (and Virginia's mother also)... She wears a hearing aid and the piano squeaked every time she pushed the foot pedal ... Nobody said a dang word... because Aunt Virginia is a family treasure and the sweetest of people.

That said, someone should be fired for not previewing this singer before bringer her out before the lights.
Exodus 18:21 Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders over ....
