July 30 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday his so-called "Board of Peace" ​reached an agreement for the complete disarmament ‌of Palestinian Hamas militants and other armed groups in Gaza.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump cast it ​as a "major milestone in the implementation of ​the Trump 20-Point Plan" to end Israel's war in ⁠Gaza.

He thanked mediators ​Egypt, Qatar and Turkey.

"This agreement is a critical ​step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian ‌government ⁠that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people," Trump said.

"At the same time, Israel will have the security ​it deserves," Trump ​added.

Earlier in ⁠the day, sources said that talks between mediators and Hamas leaders in Cairo ​on implementing a U.S.-brokered Gaza peace plan ​made ⁠rare progress although an Israeli official said proposed terms were not satisfactory.

Israeli strikes killed at least ⁠six Palestinians ​in Gaza on Thursday, including ​two children, medics said.

President Trump said Thursday evening Hamas and his international "Board of Peace" have agreed on the next steps in a peace deal that includes Hamas' disarmament in the Gaza Strip.

In a Truth Social post, the president called it a "HISTORIC agreement for the COMPLETE DISARMAMENT of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza," and a "monumental step toward lasting PEACE and SECURITY."

Hamas communicated through mediators that it agreed to the final text of the plan, including decommissioning their weapons, U.S. and Board of Peace officials told reporters Thursday.

Hamas has agreed to the plan for Gaza's disarmament, a senior Hamas official told CBS News' partner network BBC News. Israel has not yet publicly commented on Mr. Trump's announcement.

Under the plan, Israeli forces would withdraw from parts of Gaza as "disarmament is completed," Mr. Trump said Thursday, with an International Stabilization Force and a new Palestinian police force responsible for security.

CAIRO, July 31 (Reuters) - Implementation of the deal to bring peace to Gaza announced by U.S. President Donald Trump will depend on Israel first meeting its commitments under an agreement reached ‌last year, a senior Hamas official told Reuters on Friday.

Previous attempts to reach an agreement have foundered amid mutual suspicion and each side's insistence that the other must move first, and there still appears to be some distance between ​the two sides.

On Friday, Hamas issued a statement saying the first step towards an agreement would have to be a commitment by Israel "to stopping the killing ⁠and ending its attacks".

A senior Hamas official has said that the Palestinian movement will not take any steps toward disarmament before Israeli forces withdraw from Gaza.

Ghazi Hamad told Al Jazeera that Israel would have no role in the disarmament process. Instead, it is set to be carried out by a Palestinian national committee.

The armed group has largely abided by a ceasefire agreement that came into effect in October last year, as Israel continues a sustained bombing campaign in violation of the agreement, killing more than a thousand Palestinians and injuring many more.

According to the AFP news agency, Hamas sources said that the Palestinian technocratic committee established by the Board of Peace to govern Gaza will be "the sole entity" overseeing the process of managing and storing the group's weapons.

In separate comments to Reuters, Hamas reiterated that the handover of weapons was contingent on the withdrawal of Israeli forces, along with the increased flow of aid and goods into the territory.  .  .

Israeli strikes in Gaza on Saturday killed at least two people and damaged warehouses for medical supplies, Palestinian officials said, despite a recent deal between President Trump’s Board of Peace and Hamas to advance the Gaza cease-fire.

One of the strikes destroyed and damaged the warehouses at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza before dawn on Saturday, said Khalil Dagran, a hospital spokesman. The outpatient clinic was also damaged, he added, though there were no reports of casualties.

The Israeli military said it had bombarded the warehouses because Hamas was storing weapons there and using the facility as a hide-out. Mr. Dagran disputed the Israeli allegation, adding that Israeli forces had warned Palestinians to flee ahead of the bombing.

A second Israeli strike on Saturday, in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City, killed two Palestinians, according to local health officials. The Israel military confirmed the attack but declined to provide details about why the two were targeted.

The 'Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital' is a Hamas Headquarters disguised as a hospital.  This is an awfully large hole for just one missile.  It is consistent with a small weapons depot being struck by a missile.
