@libertybele IMO, there's no need to reach for extreme hyperbole when defining Benjamin Netanyahu. There are a few threads running through his life that have greatly influenced him, and influence him still.
Netanyahu's mentor until his death was his father, ---- an obsessive little man so filled with belligerence that he was shunned by the early Israeli establishment. While never formally banished, he was forced to move to the United States for work because neither Israeli nor European Jews provided any. Unfortunately, Benjamin absorbed his father's worldview.
Netanyahu first assumed the Premiership in 1996 with one foot on Yoni's grave and the other on Rabin's. From this point on war and the threat of war would be his political gold and peace would be his political kryptonite ---- while "between the Sea and the Jordan there will only be Israeli sovereignty" would remain his ultimate goal.
Netanyahu went on to become a globally recognized liar. His word and agreements proved to be a waste of time ---- doing more to harm the State of Israel than could have been imagined. After 42+ years at or near the very top of the Israeli political pyramid, Netanyahu's actions have transformed Israel into a pariah state and have served to reignite antisemitism around the globe.
Netanyahu is no hero and deserves no devotion.
